Naga Siren is one of the most punishing heroes in Dota 2. Her abilities make her an oppressive laner that is nearly impossible to shut down, while her Mirror Images allow her to farm at an incredible pace. While she's not a very popular pub hero, she has a fantastic win rate at all brackets, peaking at 53% in Immortal.

Despite all her prowess, some heroes serve as Naga Siren counters. In this article, we will talk about your best options to send Slithice back to the depths of where she came from.

The three best Naga Siren counters in Dota 2

Warlock

While there are plenty of supports who can deal decent AoE damage, Warlock is the most consistent, and he comes with an ultimate that pierces magic immunity.

Warlock and Naga Siren don't face each other often in the laning stage, as they are usually on opposite sides of the map, their first encounter will often be during mid-game skirmishes and that's when Upheavel shines.

Maxing Upheaval is a great skill build for Warlock and it serves as a perfect Naga Siren counter. The spell deals 110 damage when maxed and can quickly slow enemies to a crawl. Best of all? it's in an area, which means Naga Siren can't use Mirror Images or Manta Style to dodge the damage.

In late-game situations, Naga Siren will often use a Black King Bar in conjunction with Song of the Siren to escape dangerous situations. This isn't a problem for Warlock, who often stands far enough to avoid falling asleep and can drop a Golem to stop Naga from teleporting away.

Shadow Word (with the level 20 talent) and Fatal Bonds also deal significant AoE damage and can cause problems for Naga Siren. However, both spells can be dispelled, so it can be tricky to land them successfully against illusion heroes. Still, it's yet another option for Warlock and another headache for Naga.

Warlock has multiple ways to deal incredible damage to multiple targets, as well as slow them to a crawl and prevent them from escaping. The hero has one of the highest win rates against Naga, beating her 54% of the time.

Necrophos

If you're looking to go up close and personal against Naga Siren as a core player, then Necrophos is one of your best options.

Necrophos is a great Naga Siren counter because his arsenal of spells deal AoE damage, quickly removing illusions and allowing his team to focus down the real Naga.

Death Pulse deals 280 damage around the hero, with only a five-second cooldown. The hero can buy an Aghanim's Shard to quickly deal 560 damage to Naga Siren and instantly remove her illusions while chasing her down. Not a bad way to open a fight at all.

The second spell Necrophos maxes out is Heartstopper aura, which deals a hero's max health in damage per second. Naga Siren is a stat-based hero and can easily boast a gigantic health pool courtesy of Heart, Skadi, and Manta Style. The more health Naga has the more damage Heartstopper deals.

Necrophos' standard item build is well-suited for dealing with illusion-based heroes. Radiance is the second most popular item on the hero, and it was buffed in 7.34b to deal an extra 50% damage to illusions. Aghanim Scepter and Shiva's Guard are two common pickups for the hero and further serve to shut down Naga Siren.

Due to being a stat-based hero, Naga Siren doesn't like buying Nullfier, which is the best counter to Necrophos. Without it, Necro can use Ghost Shroud and escape all physical attacks, trivializing Naga's damage.

With massive area-of-effect damage and the perfect item build, Necrophos is one of the best Naga Siren counters, winning this matchup 55% of the time.

Sand King

Necrophos might need a few items to counter Naga Siren but Sand King can shut her down with his abilities alone.

Every single ability that Sand King has deals AoE damage, making him a perfect choice to bring her down.

Sand King will always match up against Naga during the laning stage and he is one of the few heroes who can threaten her early on.

The king can choose to focus on maxing Sandstorm to deal with illusions. The ability deals 85 damage in an area and now follows Sand King around, making it significantly easier to deal with Naga.

A value point in Caustic Finale goes a long way towards shutting down Naga in the lane. Without her illusions, Sand King and an ally can set up kills on Naga or zone her out entirely from the lane.

The Epicenter-Burrowstrike-Sand Storm combo may not be enough to bring Naga down past the 25-minute mark, but it still deals enormous AoE damage and can catch Slithice off guard, allowing allies to come in to finish the job and turn her into Sushi.

Sand King is the best Naga Siren counter in Dota 2. He threatens her laning stage early on and his magic damage is more than enough to deal with her illusions at all stages of the game, earning Sand King a 58% win rate against Naga.
