Team Liquid came into the closing weekend of the LCS Summer Season with a single goal in mind, becoming the first team to finish a season undefeated in the LCS.

In true dominant fashion, TL outperformed NRG in all aspects of the game this Saturday (August 10th) to complete the historic feat and end the season with a 7-0 series record.

Team Liquid continue to perform

Team Liquid's current level of play gives fans of the LCS the kind of hope they have not felt in years with international play on the horizon.

The team came into the second half of the LCS Summer Season following their stellar performance in the Esports World Cup in July, where they were narrowly defeated in the semifinals by eventual champions T1.

Once back in Los Angeles, Team Liquid continued their remarkable run of form by running over any and all opposition in the LCS. After defeating a strong Cloud9 roster last week, TL's final challenge before completing their historic run came in the form of an NRG team that has been struggling to find their form all season long.

Not wanting to delay history any further, Team Liquid made quick work of NRG by taking the series 2-0, claiming both games in under 30 minutes.

The wins came off the back of yet another dominant display from LCS player of the week Sean "Yeon" Sung on Ezreal and some more rock solid gameplay from Eon-yeong "Impact" Jung in the top lane.

Leading the Championship charge

With their win against NRG, Team Liquid has secured first place in the LCS Summer Season.

The team's Summer standing means they are guaranteed a first-round bye in the upcoming LCS Championship. The shortened path at the end-of-season tournament sees Team Liquid one step closer to qualifying for the 2024 League of Legends World Championship, where the team will surely be eager look to make North America proud.

The remaining team to get a bye in the first round of the LCS Championship will be decided this Sunday afternoon (August 11th). Cloud9 and Flyquest, both of which currently sit at 5 wins and 1 loss, will square off to decide who will take 2nd place in this LCS Summer Season and land one step closer to Worlds.
