The Lower Bracket Final of the LEC Season Finals is upon us, as MAD Lions KOI will look to repeat their Round 1 heroics and trump G2's perfect year in the LEC.

Coming into finals weekend in Munich, both teams will be eager to prove they've got what it takes to face off against Fnatic in the Grand Final on Sunday (September 1st) for the final LEC trophy of the year.

Looking for revenge against MAD Lions

MDK shocked Europe by taking down G2 in the first round of the LEC Season Finals.

The 5-game series was an absolute roller coaster of emotions for fans of either team. Despite G2 leading the series 2-1, MDK's Alex "Myrwn" Villarejo threw G2 off just enough with his unconventional picks to see MAD Lions push past the finish line.

The question now is, will G2 look to shut Myrwn down with bans, or has the team been working on any unconventional picks of their own?

With the loss, G2 were forced to continue their run in the tournament through the lower bracket, where they have defeated GIANTX and Team BDS on their way to finding MDK stand before them once more.

Now facing up in the Lower Bracket Final, MAD Lions will look to find a way to replicate their Round 1 form and put G2 down once and for all.

A rock in G2's shoes

A win for G2 against MAD Lions would set the team up just one series away from completing a perfect year in the LEC.

Having won the Winter, Spring and Summer splits this year, G2 does not know what losing an LEC trophy feels like in 2024.

The only two teams to know what a perfect year in the LEC feels like are G2 and this year's Season Finals grand finalists, Fnatic. However, this was all back when the LEC only had two tournaments a year. Since the inclusions of the Winter Season and the Season Finals in 2023, the bar for a flawless year in the LEC has doubled in height.

Incredibly for G2, the team managed to win 3 out of the 4 LEC tournaments in 2023. As fate would have it, however, it was precisely MAD Lions KOI who denied G2 the possibility of a flawless run when they won the 2023 Spring split after defeating G2 in the first round of the playoffs.

Despite MDK's complete roster overhaul since then, G2 surely will not have forgotten a thing.

Now facing off for the second time in these Season Finals, G2 have double cause to seek revenge against a MAD Lions team that keep getting in their way.

Where to watch

Can G2 achieve the incredible and complete a perfect year in the LEC or will MDK prove to be a problem that the team simply cannot deal with? To find out, catch all of the action live on the official LEC channels on Twitch or YouTube, with the games starting this Saturday (August 31st) at 6 pm CET.
