The end of ESL Pro League Season 22 is fast approaching, and tomorrow’s first semifinal promises a thriller as Team Falcons meet MOUZ for a place in the Grand Finals. With both sides boasting proven rosters, expectations are sky-high. However, only one will move closer to lifting the title.

Falcons’ Dominance Tested

Falcons entered the tournament as one of the eight teams directly invited to Stage 2, and they justified their position with dominant performances in the Swiss Stage. They cruised through the phase with a flawless 3-0 record, defeating Astralis, MOUZ, and Natus Vincere in convincing fashion. With that strong start, it seemed like their high-profile roster was finally hitting its stride.

Much of their success has come from the star trio of m0NESY, NiKo, and newcomer Kyousuke. The young sniper has been in peak form, while NiKo’s consistency and Kyousuke’s adaptability have anchored the team. Kyxsan and TeSeS have provided stability on both ends, creating one of the most well-rounded lineups seen this season.

However, their quarterfinal performance against 3DMAX raised a few flags. Despite a brilliant showing from m0NESY, Falcons were pushed harder than expected. 3DMAX managed to take Inferno, and nearly forced an upset on Nuke, where Falcons squandered a 9-3 lead on the CT side – a concerning sign considering Nuke’s CT-sided nature. For a team of Falcons’ caliber, such lapses could prove costly against top-tier opposition like MOUZ.

MOUZ’s Momentum and Star Power

Like Falcons, MOUZ were also placed directly in Stage 2 and opened their campaign with two clean 2-0 victories over GamerLegion and Gentle Mates. Their only setback in the Swiss Stage came at the hands of the Falcons themselves, who forced MOUZ into a fourth match against 3DMAX, which they won comfortably to secure a playoffs berth.

Leading MOUZ’s charge is Spinx, a player that has been unstoppable so far. His numbers have been staggering. Even in MOUZ’s defeat to Falcons, he dominated with a 51-30 KD, underlining his consistency and impact. Alongside him, torzsi and xertioN have contributed crucial performances, ensuring that MOUZ remain dangerous across all maps. The only slight concern lies with jimpphat, who had one shaky performance, but overall, the team appears well-drilled and confident.

Their statement victory over NAVI in the quarterfinals further cemented MOUZ’s status as a serious title contender. After dropping the first map in overtime, they bounced back with two convincing wins, demonstrating both mental fortitude and strategic depth.

Map Veto Breakdown

When it comes to the map veto, both teams have clear preferences and long-standing permabans that will shape the series.

  • MOUZ have a permaban in Dust2, while Falcons have a permaban in Overpass, so those maps are expected to disappear instantly.
  • From there, Falcons are likely to lean toward Ancient as their first pick – a map on which they have looked confident all season and also beat MOUZ earlier in the tournament.
  • For MOUZ, Inferno remains their most reliable battleground. While they could opt for Mirage or even Nuke given Falcons’ recent slip-up on the latter, statistics suggest Inferno to be their best.
  • The second round of bans should see MOUZ removing Train from contention, while Falcons are expected to take out Mirage, leaving Nuke as the probable decider.
  • This setup points toward another tense decider on Nuke, a map that may test Falcons’ nerves if the series goes the distance.

Prediction

Both sides are elite and capable of beating anyone on their day. However, given Falcons’ vulnerabilities against 3DMAX and MOUZ’s surging form led by Spinx, the edge tilts towards the 3-time winners.

Final Prediction: MOUZ 2-1 Falcons

As the first semifinal of ESL Pro League Season 22 approaches, all eyes will be on whether Falcons can rediscover their sharpness or if MOUZ’s momentum will carry them into yet another EPL Grand Finals. With both teams stacked with firepower and strategy, this clash promises intense Counter-Strike from start to finish.

Another Early Exit, Same Old Story: Team Falcons Are Running Out Of Excuses

There is a cruel irony at the heart of Team Falcons' CS2 project. Hand someone from 2022 their current roster sheet — NiKo, m0NESY, TeSeS, Kyxsan, kyosuke, all under the tutelage of five-time Major-winning coach Zonic — and they would confidently declare this team the undisputed best in the world. And yet, here we are in March 2026, watching Falcons get knocked out of BLAST Open Spring in the quarterfinals by PARIVISION.
