After a string of underwhelming performances, Evil Geniuses is reportedly set to disband its Counter-Strike division. This move comes on the heels of EG's recent decision to part ways with their DOTA 2 roster. Economic challenges and internal struggles have cast a shadow over the organization's future, raising concerns about its continued existence in the competitive gaming world.

EG's Troubled History in Counter-Strike

EG ventured into the CS:GO scene in 2019 with the acquisition of the former NRG lineup. Which included prominent players like Tarik "tarik" Celik and Vincent "Brehze" Cayonte. At the time, their roster was among the world's elite. They managed to secure numerous significant tournament victories, such as ESL One New York 2019. And they also achieved the top global ranking during the online era.

However, as LAN play returned, EG's fortunes took a downturn. They struggled to attain notable success in Counter-Strike, facing issues within their teams. A roster featuring Jake "Stewie2K" Yip fell apart due to internal conflicts, and their ambitious 'Blueprint' project failed to materialize. Even their attempts to assemble a European roster in the most recent off-season ended in disappointment. Reports of mismanagement and poor working conditions behind the scenes added to their woes. With potential signees expressing criticism of EG's operations.

The Grim Outlook

According to a report by Richard Lewis, EG may be on the brink of dissolution due to a combination of economic challenges, strained relationships with key sponsors, and their own internal struggles. The organization has recently enlisted the services of a financial advisory firm specializing in operational improvements.

This turbulent scenario has given us cause to speculate that we might be witnessing "the beginning of the end" for Evil Geniuses. The organization's future appears uncertain, with the potential for a complete shutdown looming on the horizon.

What Lies Ahead for EG?

The decision by Evil Geniuses to exit the Counter-Strike scene raises critical questions about their future endeavors and their ability to recover from this tumultuous period. Can EG reinvent themselves and rise above the challenges that have plagued them in recent years? Will they explore new esports titles, perhaps refocusing their resources and strategy to conquer new frontiers in the competitive gaming world?

As fans, sponsors, and industry insiders eagerly await updates on EG's next steps, one thing is clear: the fate of this once-mighty organization hangs in the balance. Whether they can regroup and reemerge as a force to be reckoned with or succumb to the pressures of an ever-evolving esports landscape remains to be seen.
