Star mid laner Joseph "Jojopyun" Pyun is reportedly being fired by Cloud9.

Information on the decision comes from IWDominate, who recently released a video on YouTube detailing the situation.

Cloud9 run out of patience

In the video, IWD explains that Jojopyun's contract is being terminated by Cloud9. The reason? Tardiness.

That's right, tardiness. According to IWD, Jojopyun had shown up late so often to scheduled activities with the team that Cloud9 decided to begin tracking how many times the player was late.

After they started tracking his tardiness, Jojo still showed up late to scrims, team meetings, draft meetings, etc. a total of 43 times.

Eventually, C9 exhausted their tolerance and decided to rid themselves of the problem by terminating Jojopyun's contract.

Worthy of note is the fact that, according to Jojo's teammate Blaber in a recent episode of The Sack Down podcast hosted by IWD, Jojopyun may be the highest paid player in all of the LCS.

If that were to be the case then Cloud9 terminating Jojo's contract for cause means that the team may also be getting rid of a massive budgetary problem in the process.

Cloud9's waning star

Jojopyun came into Cloud9 as one of the hottest players in the scene near the end of 2023.

The mid laner's talent became immediately apparent as soon as he came into the league. Jojopyun led Evil Geniuses to an LCS title during his very first year in the league, winning the 2022 LCS Spring trophy.

Becoming the youngest player ever to win the LCS at 17 years of age, Jojo also ran away with the Rookie of the Year award in the process.

Then, after winning the MVP award in the 2023 Summer Season, the star player became object of a bidding war for which Cloud9 walked away the victors in the end.

C9 Jojopyun -  A whole lotta nothing

Despite all of the hype around such a talented player joining the historic organization, the union between Jojopyun and Cloud9 failed to live up to expectations. The team hasn't found their footing all year long, failing to win a single LCS trophy and displaying constant synergy issues.

Now, though, Cloud9 hit a new low after failing to qualify for Worlds 2024 following their loss to 100 Thieves at the LCS Championship.

With Jojopyun reportedly out of the team, Cloud9 appears ready to take drastic measures in an attempt to find their way back to glory.

As for the star mid laner, the claims regarding his work ethic leave Jojopyun in a precarious position on his search for a new team.
