Today, 4th October, Heroic announced Casper “cadiaN” Møller’s decision to step away from the roster. The move marks the end of four year long relationship between cadiaN and Heroic. According to the announcement, the reason behind the decision was “differing visions for the future of the team.

CadiaN - A long and tiring journey to the top:

Casper “cadiaN” Møller is a Danish IGL and rifler who started his Counter-Strike journey with CS: Source. He switched to CS:GO in 2013 with a scandinavian roster in Xapso. Despite being a talented player and a leader, cadiaN was not part of any roster for more than a year.

He played for Mousesport, Tricked eSports, Copenhagen Wolves, SK Gaming, Rogue and North before playing for Heroic. His time on Rogue and North solidified himself as top Counter-Strike talent. But his biggest success came with Heroic.

Cadian and Heroic:

On 11th October, 2019, Heroic announced the addition of their new IGL cadiaN. Since cadiaN’s addition, Heroic quickly rose the ranks to become one of the top teams in the world.

While the rise was definitely a great one, the roster was always clouded by doubt and numerous scandals including the Hunden’s cheating scandal. Nonetheless, Heroic was always hated by the community.

At the ESL Pro League season 13, Heroic and cadiaN silenced the roster. In the final round, cadiaN clutched against a full-buy Gambit with a pistol to secure their first major LAN event win.

The team did win multiple S-tier events but could not secure a CS:GO major trophy. They placed 3rd-4th at the returning 2021 Stockholm Major, 5th-8th at the 2022 Antwerp Major and 2nd at the Rio Major. Everyone expected them to secure a win at the 2023 Paris Major but they fell to the GamerLegion Cinderella run to secure only a 3rd-4th finish.

The placements are definitely worthy of a consistent top team, but the inability of Heroic to secure a CS:GO Major trophy definitely leaves a bitter taste in cadiaN’s mouth.

CadiaN’s parting words:

Despite not winning a major together, cadiaN and Heroic have spent four years together barring the brief stint on FunPlus Phoenix when the roster was transfered briefly. In cadiaN’s professional career, it is the longest he has spent with an organization.

Despite not winning any CS:GO majors in these four years, Heroic was considered a top team and won multiple S-tier events. According to cadiaN, these four years were “career defining.”

There has been no announcement regarding cadiaN’s or Heroic’s future. In his tweet, cadiaN said

my time has come for new adventures, and I am feeling very confident about my future.

There is a cruel irony at the heart of Team Falcons' CS2 project. And yet, here we are in March 2026, watching Falcons get knocked out of BLAST Open Spring in the quarterfinals by PARIVISION.
