Brazilian superstar Erick "aspas" Santos, the 2022 VALORANT Champion, is reportedly growing frustrated with the internal dynamics of Leviatán. Which has led to speculation about his potential departure from the Argentine organization.

According to Brazilian journalist Bruno Povoleri, Aspas is currently dissatisfied with Leviatán's handling of key roster and coaching decisions, although he still under contract until the end of 2025.

The Departure of Nozwerr

A source close to Aspas stated that the player has not been consistently consulted on decisions regarding the team's 2025 plans. This frustration has been growing, despite Leviatán’s claim that they have involved Aspas in nearly all team-related decisions.

The organization has also reportedly tried to accommodate his various requests to maintain harmony within the team. But internal tensions still persist.

One of the main triggers for his dissatisfaction was Leviatán's decision to remove Argentine player Agustin "Nozwerr" Ibarra, in favor of Corbin "C0M" Lee. A move that reportedly angered Aspas. Aspas was close to Nozwerr and reportedly joined the team because he wanted to play alongside the Argentine.

After their brief stint in the 2023 Off-Season, Aspas wanted to continue playing alongside him. But Leviatán’s choice to part ways with the player fueled tension between Aspas and the organization.

Coaching Changes Spark Friction

Aspas’ frustration only deepened when Leviatán failed to secure the services of Daniel "fRoD" Montaner, a coach who had previously worked with him during his time at LOUD.

The Brazilian had advocated for fRoD to join Leviatán after the departure of their Spanish coach Alex "goked" Kie. But with fRoD already committed to MIBR, the plan fell through.

Leviatán instead promoted assistant coach Dimitar "Itopata" Staev to the role of head coach. A decision that reportedly did little to quell Aspas’ growing dissatisfaction.

Aspas had hoped for a more experienced replacement. And Leviatán’s inability to meet his expectations has further strained the relationship.

However, with C0m in the mix and Itopata at the helm, Leviatán’s 2024 season has been quite decent, with a VCT Americas League Stage 2 trophy under their belt. But their best international result came in the form of a 3rd place finish at VALORANT Champions 2024 at the end of the season.

Uncertainty Clouds Aspas’ Future

Aspas, under contract until the end of 2025, faces a pivotal choice: remain with Leviatán or explore new opportunities. Despite the possibility of staying for the 2025 season, growing frustrations over his lack of influence in key decisions suggest both he and Leviatán are preparing for a potential exit.

With no concrete offers yet, Aspas is expected to explore options in the upcoming transfer window, likely seeking a team that offers him more control in roster decisions.

His departure would be a major loss for Leviatán, who would need to find a quick replacement to stay competitive. For Aspas, this next step could further cement his legacy, with teams eager to offer him the input he desires.

Until official decisions are made, uncertainty surrounds both player and organization.
