After two years with Team Liquid, Mareks "YEKINDAR" Gaļinskis has officially parted ways with the North American team. The move might not be shocking, but it certainly feels like the end of an era for the Latvian rifler, who once stood out as one of the best entry fraggers in the game. Despite his efforts and adaptability, YEKINDAR leaves without a single trophy to his name during his Liquid tenure.

YEKINDAR joined Team Liquid in late 2022, fresh off his time with Virtus.Pro. Expectations were sky-high, but the journey turned out to be tougher than anyone imagined. Switching roles, taking on in-game leading duties, and navigating roster changes seemed to chip away at the sharp rifler we once knew. To put it bluntly, it just didn’t click.

“As of today, I am officially benched and open to offers. These two and a half years went past so fast and I can truly say that I have had a chance to play at the best esports organization. I’m insanely thankful for all of my teammates, the staff, and support. This road was not easy but I will use them as a guide in my future. I’m ready to bounce back as an individual and a player.”

– YEKINDAR shared on X.

Tough Times Across the Atlantic

If we’re being honest, this wasn’t exactly unexpected. YEKINDAR’s time with Team Liquid had its moments, but for the most part, it felt like he was trying to find his footing rather than dominating like he did in his Virtus.Pro days. From inconsistent performances to struggles in his new roles, it seemed like he was often playing catch-up.

That’s not to say there weren’t any bright spots. Liquid managed to place second at ESL Pro League Season 16 and BLAST Premier World Final 2022. They also hit a solid 3rd-4th at BLAST Premier Fall Final 2022 and IEM Katowice 2023. Still, none of it was enough to erase the frustration of coming up short in the big moments.

North America joins the party

YEKINDAR’s exit is part of a bigger shakeup in the North American Counter-Strike scene. Rumors are swirling about Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski possibly leaving Complexity, and Team Liquid is reportedly gearing up for a rebuild under the leadership of Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken. There’s no doubt this offseason will bring plenty of surprises.

As for YEKINDAR, he’s now open to offers, ready to prove himself once again. Whether he heads back to Europe, stays in North America, or surprises us with another destination, one thing’s for sure—he’ll be hungry to bounce back and remind everyone why he was once considered among the best.

It’s a bittersweet goodbye for Liquid fans, but YEKINDAR’s story is far from over. Keep an eye out because the next chapter might just be his best yet. For the latest CS2 news and guides, follow Strafe Esports. Check out our X account for the latest content and coverage.

Another Early Exit, Same Old Story: Team Falcons Are Running Out Of Excuses

There is a cruel irony at the heart of Team Falcons' CS2 project. Hand someone from 2022 their current roster sheet — NiKo, m0NESY, TeSeS, Kyxsan, kyosuke, all under the tutelage of five-time Major-winning coach Zonic — and they would confidently declare this team the undisputed best in the world. And yet, here we are in March 2026, watching Falcons get knocked out of BLAST Open Spring in the quarterfinals by PARIVISION.

FURIA Fall Short as Falcons Secure BLAST Open Spring Playoff Spot

FURIA’s BLAST Open Spring 2026 campaign came to a painful end after a 2-1 loss to Team Falcons in the Group A lower bracket final.
