Nomad is a REACT Operator in Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Extraction. She brings strong crowd control, high endurance, and reliable hazard clearing to every mission.

Unlocked at Development Milestone 17, Nomad is built for control and survival. Her Airjab Launcher defines her role and shapes how teams approach incursions.

Who Is Nomad?

Nomad’s real name is Sanaa El Maktoub. She was born on July 27, 1979, in Marrakesh, Morocco. She stands 5'7" (1.71m) tall and weighs 139 lbs (63kg). Her codename reflects her background and her experience in harsh environments.

Background and Service

Before joining REACT, Nomad served in the Mountain Infantry Battalion of the Groupe d'Intervention de La Gendarmerie Royale (GIGR). Her years in extreme terrain built her endurance and adaptability. Her expertise in environmental operations led Rainbow to recruit her. When the Parasite threat emerged, REACT saw her as a strong fit for missions across different climates.

Psychological Profile

Nomad is described as a survivalist expert with high physical endurance. She adapts well to extreme conditions and performs consistently during incursions. Her interest in REACT aligns with her explorer mindset. The existence of Chimera drives her curiosity and motivates her work in the field.

Nomad’s Role in REACT

Nomad is a Medium Armored Operator. She fills a shockwave and knockback role on the team. Her main function is area control. She pushes enemies away, clears hazards, and disrupts enemy movement. She does not rely on stealth gadgets or scanning tools. Instead, she shapes the battlefield by controlling space.

The REACT Airjab Launcher

Nomad’s signature gadget is the REACT Airjab Launcher. It fires proximity-triggered repulsion mines. These mines stick to surfaces and activate when enemies enter their range. When triggered, they knock enemies back and clear hazards.

How the Airjab Works

REACT Airjab Launcher

The Airjab is attached to Nomad’s primary weapon. When she switches to launcher mode, a visible yellow laser sight appears. This laser can be traced back to her position. Switching between the launcher and primary fire is quick, which allows smooth transitions in combat.

After deployment, the device sticks to a surface and shows a bright yellow light. Nomad can see a 3-meter radius circle immediately after placing it. The mine has a one-second arming delay. It only activates through proximity.

Airjab Effects

When triggered, the Airjab pushes enemies back by about 2 meters. Enemies are knocked down for a few seconds. Destructible objects in their path break on impact. This includes destructible walls. The blast also clears hazards. During the MIA Rescue objective, Airjab explosions destroy open fuel pods and fuel cells.

Airjab Progression

Nomad’s Airjab becomes stronger as she levels up:

  • Level 1: Airjab Launcher unlocked (3 mines)

  • Level 2: Mine count increases to 4

  • Level 7: Mines obliterate Tier 1 and Tier 2 enemies, including Nest, Blinding Spores, Breachers, Grunts, Spikers, Rooters, Sowers, and Sludge

  • Level 10: Mine count increases to 6

At higher levels, Nomad shifts from crowd control to direct elimination of weaker enemies. This increases her impact during heavy engagements.

Nomad’s Loadout Options

Nomad has access to multiple primary and secondary weapons as she progresses.

Primary Weapons

  • She starts with the AK-74M assault rifle.
  • At Level 3, she gains access to the ARX200 assault rifle.
  • At Level 6, she unlocks the AUG A3 submachine gun.
  • At Level 9, she unlocks the TCSG12 shotgun.

These options allow players to choose between mid-range rifles, a faster SMG, or a shotgun for closer engagements.

Secondary Weapons

  • Nomad can use the .44 Mag Semi-Auto revolver.
  • At Level 6, she unlocks the PRB92 handgun.

Her secondary choices support different playstyles, from heavier damage to standard sidearm reliability.

Operator Advancement and Perks

Nomad’s progression improves both survivability and mobility.

At Level 4, she gains Speed III, which increases movement speed by 25%. This helps her reposition and deploy Airjabs faster.

At Level 5, she gains Stronger Recovery. She revives with an additional 30 Health Boost.

At Level 8, she unlocks Armor V, reducing incoming damage by 40%. This significantly increases her durability during difficult objectives.

These upgrades strengthen her frontline presence. She can hold space, recover from mistakes, and absorb more damage than lighter operators.

Strengths of Nomad

Nomad excels at:

Controlling entry points.

Disrupting enemy rushes.

Clearing hazards.

Protecting objectives.

Supporting teammates during revives and extractions.

Her Airjab can reset enemy pressure. Knockdowns create openings for teammates to eliminate targets safely.

At higher levels, her ability to instantly remove Tier 1 and Tier 2 enemies reduces the burden on the team. She becomes both a control operator and a damage contributor.

Tactical Use of Nomad

Nomad performs best when placed in high-traffic areas. Doorways, corridors, and narrow spaces increase the chance of triggering Airjabs. Since her laser sight is visible, positioning matters. Players should avoid exposing themselves while aiming. The one-second arming delay means she must plan ahead. Dropping a mine directly in front of an enemy will not trigger instantly.

Her Speed III upgrade supports active movement. She can rotate between objectives and reposition mines as the situation changes. With Armor V unlocked, she can survive more mistakes. This makes her suitable for aggressive setups near objectives.

Nomad in Team Composition

Nomad works well with operators who benefit from enemy disruption. Knocked-down enemies are easy targets. Her hazard-clearing ability reduces environmental risks. This helps teams maintain control during chaotic encounters. Since she can carry up to six mines at Level 10, she can lock down multiple paths at once. This makes her valuable in later stages of incursions.

Final Thoughts on Nomad

Nomad stands out for her control and durability. Her background in extreme environments translates directly into gameplay. The Airjab Launcher defines her identity. It pushes enemies back, clears hazards, and creates space for the team.

As she levels up, Nomad becomes stronger, faster, and more resilient. Teams that use her Airjab wisely can manage pressure and maintain control during difficult missions.

Nomad rewards planning and positioning. When used with intent, she shapes the fight before it even begins.
