Team Liquid has officially announced the return of Jeong “Impact” Eon-young to their League of Legends roster. The veteran top laner was previously a member of their historic organization and roster for over 3 years. He most recently competed on FlyQuest for the 2023 LCS season.

Impact’s return to the lineup also means bidding farewell to Park “Summit” Woo-tae, who was a part of the Team Liquid roster for nearly a year since their rebuild to a full Korean-speaking lineup in the 2022 off-season.

This announcement also unofficially completes Team Liquid’s roster for 2024.

Team Liquid 2024 LCS Starting Lineup:

  • Top Lane: Jeong “Impact” Eon-young
  • Jungle: Eom “UmTi” Seong-hyeon
  • Mid Lane: Eain “APA” Stearns
  • AD Carry: Sean “Yeon” Sung
  • Support: Jo “CoreJJ” Yong-in
  • Head Coach: Jake “Spawn” Tiberi

Making an Impact

After leaving Team Liquid, Impact headed for Evil Geniuses. While 2021 was overall a fairly non-noteworthy year for the Korean Top Laner, under EG’s banner, the roster did place third in the 2021 Summer Split. Unfortunately, they failed to make a deep run at the LCS Championship.

2022 was when Impact and EG truly had made it as a roster, cracking another top 4 in the regular Spring season before winning the Spring Playoffs. They paired that with a top 4 finish at MSI 2022. Heading into Summer, EG was in the most dominant form that they have been in years, and a large part of that was the star-studded roster.

Evil Geniuses won the Summer Split with a 15-3 scoreline, setting expectations high for their Playoffs Performance. While on-stage, everything looked fine, EG’s AD Carry star Kyle “Danny” Sakamaki was undergoing issues that would see him bow out mid-Playoffs. After losing to Cloud9 in the Upper Bracket, Danny played two more games with EG before being announced as inactive.

Return to Liquid

Prior to joining EG, Impact was already noted as one of the LCS’ most accomplished Top Laners. Having begun his career in Korea, he was part of SKT T1 for a period of time in 2013 and 2014. Since joining the LCS, he has been in 7 Playoff finals.

While his departure from Team Liquid was during a less successful period, his track record speaks for itself. His return will likely signal a much better form for Team Liquid heading into the 2024 season, especially with the signing of new OK BRION Jungler “UmTi”.
