The action is heating up at The International 2023 Qualifiers. However, Sumail "SumaiL" Hassan has faced another disappointment even after switching regions as his team, Team Aster, fell short at The International 2023 qualifiers. Aster’s series against Team Bright caught everyone by surprise. Team Bright, a relegated, stood their ground firmly against a powerhouse and landed the knockout blow. Without Team Aster, The International 2023 will be missing another legendary player.

Disappointing Season

Aster had mixed results throughout the entire 2022-2023 DPC Season. The team placed second in the Winter Tour and qualified for The Lima Major, where they secured a seventh-place finish. In the Spring Tour, they placed fourth and took their ticket to The Berlin Major. However, as destiny would have it, the team had to play with Sumail as their standin’ at the LAN.

With Sumail on their team, Team Aster witness their true potential. After securing another 7th place finish at the LAN, Team Aster brought Sumail into the team for the Summer Tour. Team Aster secured a third-place finish in the Summer Tour with Sumail. However, the team could only get a 9th-place finish at The Bali Major. Sumail played a massive part for Team Aster in DreamLeague Season 20, where they would qualify for The Riyadh Masters 2023 in play-in seeds through EPT Rankings. The team placed a 7th-8th place finish at The Riyadh Masters 2023.

However, the team couldn’t secure enough points in the DPC season to receive a direct invite for The International 2023, and they had to go through The International qualifiers. Nevertheless, with Sumail on their side, the team were the favourites to qualify. At The International qualifiers, despite being the favourites, Team Aster lost back-to-back series. Xtreme Gaming knocked them down to the lower brackets. Team Bright eliminated them in the lower bracket, stopping their dreams of going to The International 2023.

Second TI without Sumail

Unfortunately for Sumail, this is his second year without attending The Internationals. Sadly, the player had gone through this feeling before. Last year, Sumail failed to qualify for The Internationals with Nigma Galaxy through the Western European qualifiers. There were many doubts about Sumail joining a Chinese team, but Team Aster’s performance put those doubts to rest.

Nevertheless, new rumours about the team’s chemistry surfaced recently, shading Sumail. Team Aster’s run for the 2022-2023 DPC Season has come to aclose as they failed to qualify for The Internationals. Moreover, Sumail’s stay in China is uncertain as his team didn’t qualify for The Internationals.
