Tier 1 teams will test each others’ limits at BetBoom Dacha before the official start of The International. However, as the teams attempted to analyse each other, Team Spirit, The International 2021 Champions, withdrew from the tournament. Team Spirit would not have their full roster available at BetBoom Dacha. Thus, not wanting to destabilise the team’s synergy before the prestigious International, Team Spirit withdrew from the competition. Following their withdrawal, TSM will fill in Spirit’s steed in the tournament.

Ban Consequences?

A month ago, Spirt’s players, Illya "Yatoro" Mulyarchuk and Myroslav "Mira" Kolpakov, were banned from representing Ukraine in international tournaments by Ukrainian Esports Federation. BetBoom Dacha is a tournament hosted by BetBoom, an organisation that has ties with Russia, so there could also be some politics involved in this scenario. Nevertheless, Spirit made a wise decision by withdrawing from the competition. Moreover, the team also does not publicly disclose which players were unable to attend the tournament, drawing speculations.

Team Spirit’s Recent Performances

Although Team Spirit dominated their region in the 2022-2023 DPC Season, they showed mixed results at LANs until recently. Recently, they won The Riyadh Masters 2023, which has the largest prize pool thus far this season. Moreover, Team Spirit is one of the teams to keep an eye on for the upcoming International. The team has shown tremendous improvement in the season, despite the Western European teams dominating the season. The team has also qualified for The Internationals 2023 through the DPC team ranking. Thus, withdrawing from the competition will give Spirit more time to train before The International.

BetBoom Dacha Preview

The BetBoom Dacha consists of seven invited teams and one team qualifying from the online stage. The tournament features a $250 000 USD prize pool. Moreover, tier 1 teams such as Gaimin Gladiators, Team Aster and BetBoom Team are among the team playing at the tournament. The tournament will start on 10th September and ends on September 19th.
