G2 Esports is wasting no time in preparing for the 2025 LEC season, with the latest news indicating that Rudy "SkewMond" Semaan will soon be joining the squad.

As reported by Sheep Esports' Alejandro "Anonimotum" Gomis, the promising BDS academy jungler is set to replace Martin "Yike" Sundelin, who was recently allowed to explore other options after G2’s disappointing exit from Worlds 2024.

This change marks the beginning of an offseason that is likely to see more roster reshuffles as G2 and the rest of the LEC look to return stronger next year.

A fresh face in the jungle

The 20-year-old SkewMond, currently regarded as one of the most talented young players in the European Regional Leagues (ERLs), is expected to bring new energy and a fresh approach to G2's jungle role.

Known for his aggressive playstyle and strong mechanical skills, he has shown the potential to perform at the highest level despite his limited experience outside of the ERLs. His performances throughout 2024 earned him recognition, not just for his ability to make plays, but for his consistency in adapting to different metas and styles on his way to leading BDS academy to the EMEA Masters Summer trophy earlier this year.

Bringing SkewMond into the LEC is a bold move for G2, who are undoubtedly aiming to infuse some youthful flair into their lineup. His transition into the LEC, however, will not be without its challenges, as he will have to adjust quickly to the higher level of competition and pressure that comes with playing for one of the most successful organizations in Western League of Legends.

G2 are quick to move on

Replacing Yike won't be easy. The young Swedish jungler leaves behind big shoes to fill after playing an instrumental role in G2's domestic dominance over the past two years.

Yike’s debut year in 2023 saw him take home the Rookie of the Year award, and he helped G2 secure a slew of titles, including five out of six LEC splits and two Season Finals. Despite his individual accolades, however, G2 struggled to achieve the same level of success on the international stage, which certainly contributed to the team's decision to explore new options for 2025.

SkewMond’s arrival follows G2's reported signing of Labrov to replace veteran support player Mikyx as the team continues to seek to bring in emerging talent to reinvigorate their lineup. While SkewMond's raw potential is evident, the pressure will be on him to deliver from the get-go, as G2's expectations extend far beyond just regional triumphs.

As for every other team in the LEC, the battle to land one of the strongest junglers in Europe in Yike may well shape a ruthless upcoming offseason.
