The regional qualifiers for Riyadh Masters 2024 are over, and teams gave it their all to secure a spot in one of esports' most prestigious tournaments. Today, PSG Quest came out on top by defeating Nigma Galaxy in the grand finals 3-1 in the best-of-five series.

And so it Begins, Who Will Claim The Prize?

PSG Quest Overcomes Nigma Galaxy to Secure Regional Victory

Despite only four teams fighting for a spot in the MENA region, the competition was intense. Both PSG Quest and Nigma Galaxy were considered top contenders especially since Falcons had already secured a direct invitation through the EPT Leaderboard system.

The limited number of teams in the MENA region has led to frequent encounters between PSG Quest and Nigma Galaxy, with the two teams meeting seven times in the past year. Nigma Galaxy managed to defeat PSG.Quest only once, making PSG Quest the favorites heading into this matchup.

The best-of-five series kicked off with PSG Quest taking a dominant lead by winning the first two maps. However, Nigma Galaxy fought back hard on the third map, securing a win and keeping their hopes alive. Although the competition was intense on the final map, PSG Quest emerged victorious, securing the win and their deserved spot.

Despite the frequent roster changes, Nigma Galaxy continues to struggle with consistency and has not yielded the desired results. On the other hand, PSG Quest's strength deserves recognition. They remained undefeated in the MENA region qualifiers for the Riyadh Masters both last year and this year, showcasing their dominance and skill.

Whether Nigma Galaxy's underperformance or PSG Quest's excellence was the decisive factor is still open for debate. Only time will tell as PSG Quest now has a chance to prove their capabilities on the big stage.

No!ob: "Now that we qualified for something, we are all hyped to play some good Dota"

In a post-match interview, PSG Quest’s mid laner, Tony "No!ob" Assaf, shared his thoughts on their performance this year and the excitement of finally attending their first LAN event.

“We got unlucky with Falcons, who were the top team in the world as we had to beat them every time in the qualifiers to qualify for anything. We came close but never actually won, so it was hard. But now that we qualified for something, we are all hyped to play some good Dota and hopefully get some good results,” said No!ob.

Despite their victory over Nigma Galaxy, PSG Quest must stay focused as the real challenge lies ahead. The Esports World Cup 2024 promises fierce competition with a massive prize pool on the line, and there is still work to be done. When asked about which aspect of their gameplay they would improve, No!ob responded:

“I think we are mostly good on the laning phase and how to approach the early game. Our problem is how to deal with the mid-game. I think we can do it better, and that’s what we need to improve.”

With exactly a month left until the Esports World Cup, teams have plenty of time to prepare, study, and strategize. The new patch 7.36 is still largely unexplored, with many hidden gems yet to be discovered. Whether PSG Quest will prevail remains to be seen, but for now, their journey has just begun.
