Old G, the team founded by two-time back-to-back champions Johan “N0tail” Sundstein and  Sébastien “Ceb” Debs, had officially registered for the upcoming Spring Tour. Whilst most teams and players made announcement videos and posters to indicate their intentions and moves, Old G, on the other hand, quietly signed themselves up. Even though they were discrete about it, fans and enthusiasts spotted the team’s sign-up, drawing up interest and attention.

A second attempt

Back at The Winter Tour, the two times champions, along with Vladimir 'Noone-' Minenko and Arif 'MSS' Anwar, also tried to get a Div II slot by competing at the open qualifiers. In the open qualifiers, they beat everyone with ease. However, at the closed qualifiers, they met their worthy contenders. The first team that went up against Old G forfeited, giving Old G a free win.

However, Old G’s opponents at the next match made them work hard for the win. Even though Old G triumphs over the challenges they faced, at the upper bracket finals, Ooredoo Thunders got the crucial win against them, sending Old G to the lower bracket finals. At the lower bracket finals, Monaspa’s hard carry player stole the show.

With back-to-back sensational performances on Lasha “Nande” Narsia, Monaspa was able to conquer the odds stacked against them and eliminate Old G from the closed qualifiers, denying Old G of their chance to play in the league.

New Additions

It was surprising for the fans to witness the favourites getting eliminated. However, Old G members weren’t surprised by the results at all.  According to Ceb’s statement from the Monkey Business podcast, the team isn’t serious. The team just want to chill and play Dota. The team’s purpose was to enjoy playing scrims and official matches again.

This statement could change for the upcoming season as Ceb showed his interest in playing professionally again. However, N0tail states he isn’t ready to sacrifice everything again for Dota as he stepped down from being the hard support from the team. Old G also added two new players to the team - Roman “Resolut1on” Fominok and Kartik "Kitrak" Rathi. Reso is the former offlaner for Team Secret, and Kitrak is the former analyst for T1. The Old G roster for Spring Tour is :

  • Volodymyr "Noone" Minenko
  • Topias "Topson" Taavitsainen
  • Roman “Resolut1on” Fominok
  • Sébastien "Ceb" Debs
  • Kartik "Kitrak" Rathi
