The League of Legends Pro League (LPL) is the professional esports league based in China. Similar to its cousins in LCK, LEC and LCS that kicked off over the week, LPL will kickoff  on January 22nd.

The LPL Spring Split 2024 will feature the seventeen LPL teams taking on each other in a single round robin. Starting 22nd January, these 17 teams over the next 9 weeks will play a total 136 Bo3s to qualify for the playoffs.

After the dust settles on the league, 10 teams will qualify for the next stage of competition, out of which the top 2 directly qualify for the playoffs semifinals.

All the action begins with the opening week of LPL Spring 2024. Following are the opening day games fixtures and where to watch the games. The active roster for the teams are available on the individual team pages or here.

During the off-season, BLG saw a significant addition to their mid lane with Knight joining the fold after his amazing year on JDG. Along with the proven talent of Bin, Xun, Elk, ON and returning LvMao, the team absolutely dominated Demacia Cup 2023 and have started the season in a dominant fashion. Knight was named the MVP of the tournament and has proved himself to be a strong addition to the fold.

Top Esports themselves aren’t strangers to a change, bringing in JDG’s 369 and Oh My God’s ‘Outstanding Rookie’ of 2021 Creme to solidify their roster. The change helped Top Esports dominate their group at the Demacia Cup 2023, but they lost to JDG in the opening round of the playoffs in a close game.

The game will pit two former JDG teammates against each other and will be a test for TES’s roster more than BLG. The latter will definitely try to dominate their opponents as they start the LPL in the same fashion they finished the Demacia Cup 2023.

Royal Never Give Up vs. EDward Gaming [12:00 PM CET]

The former competitors RNG would be looking to make a comeback this year. In an attempt they got former Worlds Champion LWX to the mix and brought back Ming to the roster.

The struggles of the roster definitely have been alleviated after their 5th-8th finish at the Demacia Cup 2023, but they have a long way to go before returning to their former glory.

Their competitors EDG are trying to crawl back to the top themself. Continuing with their Worlds winning lineup of Jiejie, Ale and the promoted mid laner Fisher; EDG brought in Solokill, Leave and Vampire. Unfortunately, they struggled with their current squad at the Demacia Cup 2023. Moreover, the departure of their AD Carry Uzi, was a painful start to the off-season.

This makes their upcoming game against RNG an important one to win. Another loss to start the year, would put EDG on the wrong foot and might be a start to another bad year for EDG.

For BLG, the game is a chance to secure a strong start to their season.
