After suffering back-to-back losses against Team Liquid and CTBC Flying Oyster, Karmine Corp was on the brink of elimination. However, they found their footing just in time, securing a dominant 2-0 victory over LPL champions Top Esports on Day 3 of First Stand 2025.

This much-needed win keeps KC’s playoffs dreams alive, however tough the road might be. They must either defeat Hanwha Life Esports in their next match or hope for CFO upsetting Top Esports.

A Surprising Outcome

Few expected KC to pull off such a convincing victory against TES, especially after their shaky performances in their first two games. Their losses to Team Liquid and CFO had cast doubts on their ability to compete at the highest level. Yet, when it mattered most, KC showed up in dominant fashion.

The biggest surprise of the series was the transformation in KC’s playstyle. In both games, Karmine Corp controlled team fights with precision and outclassed their opponents in every engagement, showcasing a completely revitalized look. Leading the charge were two of their youngest players, Caliste "Caliste" Henry-Hennebert and Vladimiros "Vladi" Kourtidis, both of whom delivered standout performances.

What’s Next? The Playoff Picture

With this victory, Karmine Corp’s playoff chances remain alive—but they are far from secure. Their fate hinges on two factors:

  1. Defeating Hanwha Life Esports in their next match.
  2. A Top Esports loss to CFO, which would eliminate TES.

As for Top Esports, they are now facing elimination. A single loss would send them home, a lackluster outcome for a team that came into the tournament as one of the favorites. Their upcoming match against CFO is now a must-win if they hope to keep their own playoff hopes alive.

For KC, today’s performance was a step in the right direction. But if they want to complete their comeback and reach the knockout stage, they will need to show the same level of dominance tomorrow. Their dominant performance today proves they have the potential to go further.
