After days of intense battles, jaw-dropping plays, and unforgettable moments, we are down to the final two contenders at IEM Katowice 2025. The iconic Spodek Arena will host one last showdown as Team Vitality and Team Spirit clash in an electrifying Best-of-5 grand final.

Both teams come into this match with dominant semifinal performances, and with the coveted IEM Katowice trophy on the line, fans can expect nothing short of a spectacle. Let’s break down everything leading up to this highly anticipated grand final.

The Grand Finalists

Team Spirit: Defending Their Crown

Spirit came into this tournament with a mission—to defend their IEM Katowice title. After a nail-biting tournament run, they finally got their revenge on Natus Vincere in the semifinals. And doing so put on a dominant performance that reaffirmed their status as a top-tier team.

Team Vitality: The French Powerhouse Returns to the Top

After a dominant win against The MongolZ, Vitality have shown that they are in peak form at the right time. Their 2024 season was far from ideal, but with a new year comes a fresh start—and lifting the IEM Katowice trophy would be the perfect way to kick off 2025.

However, to overcome the reigning champions, they’ll require a well-rounded performance from the entire roster, with strong support from their IGL and riflers to counter Spirit’s firepower.

The X-Factors: Key Players to Watch

Danil "donk" Kryshkovets continues to be an unstoppable force, proving his case for being the best player in the world. The 17-year-old phenom has been putting up incredible numbers throughout the tournament. And right behind him, Dmitriy "sh1ro" Sokolov and Boris "magixx" Vorobyev can step up to ensure Spirit remains in control, proving they are more than just a highlight-reel team.

With Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut and Shahar "flameZ" Shushan stepping up in crucial moments, Vitality has the firepower to take the fight to Spirit. Their dominant victory over The MongolZ was fueled by this duo. Alongside both delivering unexpected performances was IGL Dan "apEX" Madesclaire as well.

Map Vetoes: What to Expect

With this being a Best-of-5, both teams only get one ban each, meaning we will see a deeper map pool than usual. Here’s what we anticipate:

  • Permabans
    • Vitality bans Ancient
    • Spirit bans Inferno
  • Picks
    • Spirit likely picks Dust2 & Mirage – Two of their strongest maps. They have looked dominant on Mirage in particular, and Dust2 allows their star players to shine.
    • Vitality likely picks Nuke – A map they are extremely comfortable on. Their second pick could be Train or Anubis, but Train remains a wildcard as they have yet to play it this tournament.

Our Prediction:

While Vitality has the talent to pull off an upset, Spirit’s form and confidence make them the clear favorites. They have the best player in the world right now, strong team coordination, and the momentum of defending champions heading into this grand final.

Spirit’s dominance in high-pressure matches gives them the edge, and unless Vitality finds a way to shut down donk early, we expect Spirit to go back-to-back at Katowice.

Prediction: Team Spirit 3-1 Vitality

Will Vitality rise to the occasion, or will Spirit’s dominance continue? One thing is certain—only one team will lift the trophy. Get ready for an explosive Best-of-5—this is Counter-Strike at its finest.

Another Early Exit, Same Old Story: Team Falcons Are Running Out Of Excuses

There is a cruel irony at the heart of Team Falcons' CS2 project. Hand someone from 2022 their current roster sheet — NiKo, m0NESY, TeSeS, Kyxsan, kyosuke, all under the tutelage of five-time Major-winning coach Zonic — and they would confidently declare this team the undisputed best in the world. And yet, here we are in March 2026, watching Falcons get knocked out of BLAST Open Spring in the quarterfinals by PARIVISION.
