Awards season is ramping up across all fronts, and for the world of video games, there is no honor quite like that of receiving a Game Awards nomination. Honoring excellence in all shapes and forms, the Game Awards reward all things related to video games, from players and teams, to games and studios.

This year, the 2024 Game Awards have nominated Arcane, League of Legends, Faker and T1 in four different categories, marking yet another incredibly successful year for Riot Games and everything League of Legends.

Best Adaptation nominees:

  • Arcane (Riot/Fortiche/Netflix)
  • Fallout (Bethesda/Kilter Films/Amazon MGM Studios)
  • Knuckles (Sega/Paramount)
  • Like a Dragon: Yakuza (Sega/Amazon MGM Studios)
  • Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft (Crystal Dynamics/Legendary/Netflix)

After launching off to an impressive start with the release of the show's second season on November 9th, Arcane has somehow managed to carry on where they left off following one of the greatest displays of animated television with their first season back in 2021.

Coming into the 2024 Game Awards, Arcane is the big favorite to claim the Best Adaptation award despite competing along other fantastic adaptations such as Bethesda's Fallout. If you haven't done so yet, do yourself a favor and give Arcane a watch.

Best Esports Game nominees:

  • Counter-Strike 2 (Valve)
  • DOTA 2 (Valve)
  • League of Legends (Riot Games)
  • Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (Moonton)
  • Valorant (Riot Games)

With an incredible Worlds tournament which saw Faker and T1 claim their fifth title in a thrilling Grand Final against Bilibili Gaming (BLG) in a 5-game series, it seems unlikely anyone can take this award away from League of Legends.

The 2024 League of Legends World Championship didn't just leave behind a plethora of memorable moments and plays, however, but also ran away with all viewership numbers, setting new records not just for the game, but for all esports events. Now, it's time to put the final touches on a remarkable year for League of Legends.

Best Esports Athlete nominees:

  • Neta "33" Shapira
  • Aleksi "Aleksib" Virolainen
  • Jeong "Chovy" Ji-hoon
  • Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok
  • Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut
  • Zheng "ZmjjKk " Yongkang

Faker's nomination for Best Esports Athlete at the 2024 Game Awards was an absolute no-brainer. The South Korean mid laner became a five-time World Champion with his Worlds 2024 victory with T1. And yet, after more than 11 years winning World Championships in League of Legends, it wasn't the victory itself that was most impressive, but rather how he did it, as Faker consistently pushed his team over the edge even when things looked more dire than ever.

Despite his longevity, Faker keeps proving time and time again that when the stakes are at their highest, there is no player in the world you would rather rely on.

Best Esports Team nominees:

  • Best Esports Team
  • Bilibili Gaming (League of Legends)
  • Gen.G (League of Legends)
  • NAVI (Counter-Strike)
  • T1 (League of Legends)
  • Team Liquid (DOTA 2)

After winning the inaugural Esports World Cup in Riyad back in July, T1 struggled to even qualify for the 2024 League of Legends World Championship. Like Faker, however, the T1 stars shine brightest when their backs are against the wall.

Following their last minute qualification to Worlds, T1 never ceased to improve as the tournament progressed, ultimately claiming the biggest trophy in the game for a remarkable fifth time.

Having won two of the three international tournaments for League of Legends in 2024, T1 have had an incredibly successful run so far, and would love to earn their last trophy of the year at the 2024 Game Awards.

Where and when to watch the 2024 Game Awards?

The 2024 Game Awards will be streamed live on Thursday, December 12th, at 4:30 pm PT / 2:30 am CET.
