In a recent interview, one of Brazil’s most famous CS:GO players said that he intends to play for just one more year and then retire.

The 31-year-old achieved greatness in his career, winning numerous S-tier events with SK Gaming. But the good times are long gone for him, and they clearly won’t be coming back.

A Brief Look at FalleN’s CS:GO Career

FalleN started playing professional Counter-Strike in 2005. He was part of half a dozen teams before switching to Counter-Strike: Source. Then, after five years of competition, he made the transition to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, a game he continues to play to this day.

Initially, he moved from team to team, never spending more than a season with one organization. But eventually, he got signed by Luminosity Gaming and encountered some really good players that helped him win big trophies.

In 2016, Luminosity won MLG Columbus by defeating Natus Vincere in the Grand Final. The team got $500.000 for this victory, which was a huge amount at that time. In the same year, Luminosity also won ESL Pro League Season 3.

FalleN’s best years were spent competing for SK Gaming. During 2016 and 2017, SK won six big trophies, including ESL Cologne 2016. The team genuinely made history in those two seasons and established the first golden age for Brazilian CS:GO.

The next step for FalleN was MIBR, a Brazilian brand that was brought back to life largely thanks to his roster’s epic success. But MIBR, apart from winning ZOTAC Cup Masters 2018 and Flashpoint Season 1, was a complete disaster.

Sensing the impending doom of the project, FalleN left MIBR and joined Team Liquid in January 2021. But he did not accomplish anything with this organization. In January 2022, he joined Last Dance for a month. And since February, he has been competing for Imperial Esports.

This team’s most important result was the most recent participation at IEM Rio Major, where they lost the first three matches of the Challengers Stage and were eliminated.

What’s Next for FalleN

FalleN will probably continue to play for Imperial until the end of 2023. At the age of 31, he’s an esports veteran. Most players retire long before the age of 30.

The player recently stated that he wants to spend more time with his family, and that at this point, he wants to do more things in his life.

Anyone who is familiar with the demands of esports knows just how many sacrifices you need to make to play at the biggest tournaments. And when you get there and then get humiliated in front of your own fans, it’s an extremely painful experience that leaves you drained of energy and motivation.
