On the 4th of April, Disguised GC battled against SHIFT X in their debut match of the Open Qualifiers of the North American Game Changers Series 1. During the course of their battle, the newly formed Valorant squad helped set a new milestone for the Game Changers circuit in North America. Over 100,000 viewers simultaneously tuned in to watch Disguised GC play. This proved “Disguised Toast” was right in his assessment of the value in forming a team for this purpose, and the potential for such an experiment to incite explosive growth and viewership to the Game Changer’s scene.

New Milestone for Game Changers

A hundred thousand concurrent viewers. A lion’s share of that came from “Disguised Toast’s” stream, which pulled in over 62,000 viewers during the first day of the Open Qualifiers. Meanwhile, the Valorant America’s official Twitch channel pulled in a peak of over 27,000 viewers according to Stream Charts. YouTube streamer “Valkyrae” also co-streamed the match and pulled in at least 18,000 viewers.

For comparison, the Game Changers Champions Finals, between Shopify Rebellion GC and G2 Gozen, pulled in a peak of over 60,000 viewers. “Disguised Toast’s” stream alone was able to match that. Furthermore, the previous peak for the NA Game Changers was during the Grand Finals match between Cloud9 White and CLG.Red in 2021 at over 35,000 concurrent viewers.

It Factor

The recipe for success it seems, lies in “Disguised Toast’s” choice of players. Both “Kyedae” and “QuarterJade” boasts a combined total of over 3.2 million followership on Twitch. Add that to the fact that “Disguised Toast” leveraged the popularity and clout of his own reputation, that has steadily increased in Valorant since the unveiling and competing of his men’s Valorant roster in the NA VCLs.

Nay-sayers Begone

Despite facing heavy criticisms for his choice of players, “Disguised Toast” stuck to his guns and defended both his actions and the accreditations of his newly formed roster. Having admitted that he did attempt to build a proper roster with current professional players, the difficulties and the logistics of doing so would take more time than he had. Thus, he turned to Offline TV members “QuarterJade” and “Sydeon”, as well as “Kyedae” and “Trulytenzin” to field his roster, alongside pro player “tupperware”.

Disguised GC have since been defeated, having faced SHIFT X once more in the lower bracket, and lost the rematch. Despite their short-lived run, the impact and eyes they have generated for the scene, is a thunderous success for the Game Changers circuit as a whole.
