Dota 2 Patch 7.32d Item Changes

Every now and then, IceFrog decides to launch a new Dota 2 patch that will hopefully address the most important issues signaled by the community in the last few months. And Dota 2 patch 7.32d has certainly done that, at least to some degree.

This patch might even end up changing the meta. We'll have to follow the upcoming tournaments and see how players react to the changes. The buffs and nerfs that were applied to some of the game’s most powerful items are significant enough to change the frequency with which they are bought.

Item Changes Introduced by Dota 2 Patch 7.32d

A total of nine items were changed by Dota 2 patch 7.32d. In some cases, the buff or the nerf is quite small and will not significantly influence player behavior. But in other cases, it definitely will.

Blade Mail

Blade Mail is now a much stronger item and its active can be utilized without interrupting your channeling. This means that you can use it while teleporting or casting certain spells without ruining them.

The active damage return of the item was increased by 5%, bringing it very close to 100% damage return. For heroes that deal a lot of damage, this item simply ruins their combos completely, as long as they don’t possess lifestealing items or abilities.

Boots of Bearing

This item got boosted in an insignificant way. It now costs 50 gold less.

Crimson Guard

Crimson Guard received a huge buff. Its armor bonus was increased from 6 to 8. When you combine this benefit with all the other benefits it gives, it’s obvious that offlaners and even support players will try to buy this item more often.

Drums of Endurance

Given the previous cost of this item (1700 gold), the fact that it now costs 1650 gold is a significant buff. Because in the early game, even 10 or 20 seconds matter.

Guardian Greaves

This item received a small buff that will likely have no impact on the game. It now costs “just” 4950 gold instead of 5050. The aura threshold was also increased from 20% to 25%. This means that intensive healing of low HP allies will start faster.

Bloodstone

Bloodstone was nerfed by almost 10%. It now gives just 500 health and mana instead of 550. It may not look like a big nerf but it’s quite significant. Players tend to buy this item around the 15-minute mark, and 50 HP/mana at that point in the game is still a lot.

Pipe of Insight

This item received a very nice buff. It now blocks 450 damage instead of 400. When you cast this in the early game, you’re almost guaranteed to win the team fight because it’s 450 * 5 = 2250 magic damage barrier, plus the magic resistance aura given to your team.

Veil of Discord

Veil of Discord now gives +5 to all stats instead of +4. The buff is decent but probably won’t change much.

Wraith Pact

This item got absolutely destroyed. Wraith Pact used to give protection against all forms of damage, but now it only protects against physical damage. This means that players will probably choose to buy a Crimson Guard instead.
