America annihilated: 2023 MSI Playoffs Week 2, Day 2 recap
Gen.G won 3-0 against Cloud9 on May 17, the second match day of the second week of playoffs at the 2023 League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) at Copper Box Arena in London, England.
Korea's GEN (League of Legends Champions Korea/LCK, #1) advances to face China's Bilibili Gaming (League of Legends Professional League/LPL, #2) on May 19, with the winner advancing to the Lower Bracket Final on May 20 against the loser of Korea's T1 (LCk, #2) versus China's JD Gaming (LCK, #1).
America's C9 (League of Legends Championship Series/LCS, #1) has been eliminated from MSI 2023, finishing in 5th-6th place.

Game 1: GEN wins
Gen.G won Game 1 against Cloud9 in 27:07 by a 16-5 score. GEn jungler Han "Peanut" Wang-ho led the charge on his 4/0/7 Kha'Zix; mid laner Jeong "Chovy" Ji-hoon logged a 2/1/11 KDA on a newly popular Nautilus mid pick; and bot laner Kim "Peyz" Su-hwan and support Yoo "Delight" Hwan-joong went 5/1/6 as Jinx and 2/0/11 as Blitzcrank. Game 2: GEN wins
Gen.G took a 2-0 lead with a 25:55-long Game 2 win in which they led 13-2 in kills. GEN top laner Choi "Doran" Hyeon-joon finished 1/0/3 as Sion; Peanut found a 5/0/6 score on Wukong; Chovy went 4/1/4 on Vex; and Peyz added a 3/0/3 performance as Xayah. GEN picked up nine towers, two inhibs, two drakes, and two Heralds. Game 3: GEN wins
Gen.G completed their sweep of Cloud9 and eliminated the American team with a 22-9 win in Game 3 that lasted 26:31. GEN Chovy logged a monstrous 8/0/6 KDA on his signature Ahri; Peanut secured Player of the Day honors with a 6/1/5 Kha'Zix performance; and Peyz went 6/2/6 on Jinx. GEN were able to take 10 towers, two inhibs, one Baron, three drakes, and a Herald, while C9 managed the most major objectives of the series, securing two towers, one drake and one Herald.
