Winter Map Returns to League of Legends!
It's been a long six years of waiting, but a new Winter Map is finally arriving to League of Legends! Though fans have long been clamoring for the return of a winter's edition of Summoner's Rift, we haven't gotten one since the Snowdown event all the way back in 2019.
Well, now the wait is over at last!
When Does the New Winter Summoner's Rift Release?
The new League of Legends Winter Map release date is scheduled for November 19th, 2025. This means the map will be go live during the penultimate patch of the year, Patch 25.23.
Though no exact duration has been announced yet, expect the new LoL map to stick around for the entirety of winter — or summer, if you're in the southern hemisphere.

Initially, Winter Summoner's Rift went away seemingly for good after 2019, with Riot citing problems such as maintenance complexity, visual clarity concerns regarding specific champions, skins, and abilities, and a desire to keep the map design consistent throughout the year for the sake of competitive integrity.
The Winter Map, however, was a favorite among LoL fans, and one that has been sorely missed (and consistently asked for) year after year. Now, six years after we last saw Summoner's Rift coated in white snow, the map is set to return once more!
