In a recent Dev Update video, Riot Games has unveiled a complete rework for Viktor, aligning the Machine Herald’s gameplay, visuals and narrative with his portrayal in Arcane.

Fans of the hit Netflix series have often admired Viktor’s transformation from an idealistic inventor into a morally complex Hextech pioneer, and now his League of Legends counterpart will embody that same depth. The update promises lore adjustments as well as updates to his skins to better reflect the culmination of his journey in Season 2 of Arcane.

"Viktor's update is primarily focused on updating his visuals, audio, and backstory."

This rework marks a significant step in bridging Arcane’s storytelling with the champion’s in-game identity, offering players a chance to experience Viktor's journey in an entirely new light. If you're curious to find out how the new Viktor will look and feel, make sure you try the champion out after his rework goes live on December 11th, 2024.

Viktor's reworked visuals

As Andrei "Meddler" van Roon, Head of League Studio, mentioned in the Dev Update, Viktor's rework is largely about his visuals. If you're a League of Legends player who has finished watching Arcane, then you know that the Viktor we saw in Season 2 actually had very little to do with the game's Viktor. At least as far as his character model is concerned.

To correct this, Viktor will be donning a whole new look following his rework.

Aside from receiving a brand new splash art and in-game model, however, Viktor will also be receiving updates to all of his skins.

Riot was kind enough to allow for a small glimpse into the direction his updated skins will take. This, for instance, is what we can expect Viktor's Death Sworn skin to look like following his rework.

And speaking of skins, Riot also announced that due to his updated looks, the Prototype Viktor skin will go up in price. As soon as the champion's rework goes live, Prototype Viktor will go from costing 520 RP to 750 RP.

For now, however, the skin price remains at 520 RP. So, if you'd like to grab the updated skin at a cheaper price, make sure you do so before December 11th.

Viktor's new gameplay

While this technically is a full VGU (Visual Gameplay Update) for Viktor, the truth is most of his mechanics will remain the same, if not very similar.

The main change to Viktor's gameplay following his rework will come with his ultimate. While it will still work largely the way it does now, Viktor's [R] Chaos Storm will be updated to grow larger with every single kill.

"We wanted to mirror the feeling from Arcane, where he manifests a massive, growing storm that consumes everything around him."

When does Viktor's rework go live?

You will be able to enjoy Viktor's new looks, sounds, and more as soon as patch 14.24 goes live on Wednesday, December 11th.

If you would like to test Viktor's rework now, however, you are already free to do so on the PBE. Just keep in mind that Viktor may still go through a few more updates to his kit or character model between his PBE form, and his release form with patch 14.24.
