VALORANT Mobile has only been in public beta in China for a week, but fans have already uncovered a potentially game-breaking "feature".

User @ValorantMobileX posted a video on X revealing a controversial implementation of aim-assist that could seriously harm the game's competitive integrity.

Aim-Assist and VALORANT Mobile's implementation

Aim-assist is a common feature in controller-supported and mobile games, helping players refine their aim. It works by slightly correcting the crosshair placement, making it easier to hit targets, especially when using projectile weapons. Popular esports titles like Rainbow Six Siege and Apex Legends implement aim-assist, but it’s usually subtle and doesn’t interfere too much with gameplay.

In VALORANT Mobile, however, the aim-assist does more than gently correct the player’s aim. Instead, as shown in the viral video, it automatically snaps bullets to a target’s head even if the crosshair isn’t directly on the target. This is far from traditional aim-assist, which only adjusts the crosshair when it’s near the target.

This method of using aim-assist is also completely different from how Riot Games have implemented it on console, where only the sensitivity is reduced when the crosshair approaches a target.

This mobile implementation has sparked outrage among fans, especially in a tactical shooter like VALORANT, where precise aim is critical. By snapping to targets automatically, the feature diminishes the importance of skilled aiming, something FPS players take especial pride in as a part of the game's experience and learning curve.

Fan Backlash and Concerns

The video has stirred a strong reaction on X, with players calling the aim-assist “broken.” The consensus among fans is that this system rewards bad aim and undermines the skill required to succeed in VALORANT. For a game built around precision, positioning, and strategy, this mechanic could drastically alter gameplay dynamics.

Competitive players are especially worried. If this aim-assist feature carries over into ranked play, it could lower the skill ceiling and upset the game’s balance. Some players are already questioning whether Riot Games will include this feature in the ranked game mode at all.

However, others have also pointed out that as the game won't be cross platform, aim-assist of this kind won't cause any real issues in gameplay. With some even calling it "the norm on mobile games."

Fortunately, there’s still time for Riot to make adjustments. Since VALORANT Mobile is still in beta, Riot Games has the opportunity to listen to community feedback and address the concerns surrounding aim-assist. Whether they tweak the system, remove it entirely, or leave it as is remains to be seen.
