Trymbi to miss 2024 LEC Winter Split

Adrian “Trymbi” Trybus has announced that he will be missing the 2024 LEC Winter Split. The 23-year-old Polish Support was caught off-guard when he was unceremoniously released from Fnatic after their Worlds 2023 run. He expressed this sentiment along with his announcement on his Twitter/X account.

“Trymbi” most recently played for Fnatic, having transferred to the roster for the Summer Split of LEC. Prior to that, he was on KOI. He was widely considered and recognized as one of the best performing Supports in the LEC this year. Thus, his absence for the upcoming split will be sorely noted.

Market Imbalance

Almost overnight in the LEC it seems, a market imbalance has formed. The supply of Support players has surged for the 2024 season, while the slots available remain finite.

Reports indicated earlier in the month that only 5 LEC teams and 3 LFL teams were searching for Support players. However, there were at least 9-10 Supports in some F/A capacity during this same period.  Hence, it was likely that not every former LEC support was going to be able to keep their spot.

Furthermore, news arose earlier this week that Fnatic had found a new Support for themselves in Yoon “Jun” Se-jun. Hence, “Trymbi” found himself searching for a new team.

Late to the Party

According to his tweet, he confirmed that he had received permission to speak to other teams, however, only received permission to do so after ‘most of the teams were already decided.’

To his words, the move to remove him from the roster was a surprise. He had been told ahead of time that he was ‘high priority’ and that Fnatic was ‘happy to continue with [Trymbi].’ This was founded based on Trymbi’s performance since his pickup in Summer, where afterwards Fnatic quickly regained much of their form, made it to the finals of the LEC, qualified for Worlds, and came a series shy of making the Quarterfinals

Cited Blessing in Disguise

That all said, “Trymbi” cited in his announcement that for all the attention on him for not getting one of the Support slots, it was a blessing in disguise. To have a ‘few weeks for [himself] will do [him] good’ he said.

I have time to get into routines I used to have and failed to do throughout the year. This year gave me a lot of lessons and I will use the time to grow from them to be back on top of my game. I will take this time to regenerate and prepare for my next team. Thanks fans for all the support.

While Trymbi’s immediate future appears grim, it is unlikely he will remain team-less for long. Most underperforming LEC teams tend to do roster transfers as early as after the Winter Split, meaning it is likely he will not spend long on the bench.
