With the first two quarterfinals of the StarLadder Budapest Major concluding, two titans of Counter-Strike prepare to face off inside the MVM Dome. Team Spirit will take on Team Vitality, with both teams looking to etch their name deeper into CS2 history. With both sides in stellar form heading into the semifinals, fans are in for a showdown worthy of the stage.

Team Spirit: The Dragon Awakes

Team Spirit’s year has been quite decent, with wins at PGL Astana, both BLAST Bounties, and the prestigious IEM Cologne. Though their late-season form dipped slightly, the Major has reignited their championship fire. Their impressive run to the semifinals reminds everyone why they lifted the Shanghai Major trophy back in 2024.

The current Spirit roster may not be identical to their title-winning lineup, but the team’s new faces have finally managed to integrate. tN1R, who replaced zont1x, has transitioned into his role with confidence and poise. But the real talk of the town has been zweih. The 18-year-old anchor delivered one of his best performances in the quarterfinals, posting a 43-29 K/D against Falcons and pulling off several clutch retakes that sealed the series.

With donk continuing to spearhead Spirit’s aggressive approach, the team enters the semifinals as a legitimate contender. However, overcoming Vitality will demand peak performances across the board. The French side’s consistency and tactical discipline could pose the biggest challenge yet for Spirit’s young guns.

Team Vitality: The Kings Defend Their Throne

There are few words that capture Team Vitality’s 2025 campaign better than dominant. The reigning Major champions have maintained an unprecedented level of consistency, reminiscent of the legendary Astralis era. Even during a quieter second half of the year, their “worst” results still landed them within top-four finishes, a testament to just how high their floor truly is.

In Budapest, Vitality have looked rejuvenated. Aside from a surprising Bo1 loss to FaZe Clan, their journey through the Major has been nearly flawless. Their 2-0 dismantling of MongolZ in the quarterfinals was proof of this refined form, fluid coordination, and near-unstoppable firepower.

At the center of it all, of course, stands ZywOo. ‘The Chosen One’ produced an otherworldly 46–18 K/D versus MongolZ, dominating on rifles, the AWP, and even pistols. When supported by the stellar trio of ropz, flameZ, and mezii, Vitality become more than just a star-reliant squad, they transform into a well-oiled machine capable of punishing any weakness their opponents reveal.

Yet, even this powerhouse lineup must prepare for the threat that is donk. The young Russian has the potential to single-handedly disrupt Vitality’s rhythm if left unchecked. Shutting him down will be essential for Vitality to advance to another Major grand final.

Map Veto Breakdown

The last time these two teams came face-to-face was at BLAST Rival Fall, where Vitality took the upper hand. Based on recent trends and historical matchups, we believe the veto for this matchup will be as follows:

  • Spirit removes Inferno
  • Vitality removes Ancient
  • Spirit picks Mirage
  • Vitality picks Nuke
  • Spirit removes Train
  • Vitality removes Dust2
  • Overpass will be the decider

Prediction

While both teams enter this match in exceptional form, Vitality’s proven consistency and experience under pressure give them the edge. Spirit’s youth and firepower can make the contest volatile, but when both teams are at their best, history favors Vitality.

Final Prediction: Team Vitality 2–1 Team Spirit

With both sides boasting star-studded lineups and championship ambitions, this semifinal promises to be a spectacle. Only one will move on to fight for the StarLadder Budapest Major crown, but rest assured, this clash won’t disappoint.

Another Early Exit, Same Old Story: Team Falcons Are Running Out Of Excuses

There is a cruel irony at the heart of Team Falcons' CS2 project. And yet, here we are in March 2026, watching Falcons get knocked out of BLAST Open Spring in the quarterfinals by PARIVISION.
