Having unveiled their roster 2 weeks ago, DRX now introduced a last minute addition to their 2024 LCK lineup. SKT T1 alum and AD Carry legend Park “Teddy” Jin-seong is joining DRX ahead of their 2024 season.

As reported by Strafe Esports last month, DRX had assembled a team comprized primarily of former Challenger and Academy players. Now the puzzling decision to add Teddy draws more questions than answers. Namely, what is DRX’s intentions when building their roster?

With this move, AD Carry Park “Paduck” Seok-hyeon and substitutes Lee “Juhan” Ju-han and Kang “kyeahoo” Ye-hoo are removed from the main team. Paduck and kyeahoo are moved back to sister team DRX Challengers. Juhan leaves DRX.

DRX 2024 LCK Starting Lineup:

Finalized Roster?

Despite their earlier announcement for their confirmed roster of 7, this number has now been trimmed back down to 5, with 3 members departing, and Teddy joining. We at Strafe Esports hesitate to report this as the finalized roster, however, for now, it should be taken as such.

Fallen Star

Teddy’s fall from grace was an unexpected one. In 2019, he joined SKT T1 after several years of competing with lesser teams. Almost immediately he distinguished himself with a slew of impressive results (for about 1 and a half years). 1st place in 2019’s Spring and Summer Playoffs, 2nd place in Spring season, 3rd-4th at MSI. 3rd-4th at Worlds. Even in Spring 2020, 2nd in regular season and 1st in Playoffs.

Then suddenly, T1’s success fell off a cliff. 4th in Summer, 5th in Playoffs. A string of mediocre results plagued Teddy since that sudden change, and by 2023, he was competing under Liiv Sandbox. This was a player many considered, at one point, Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok’s mechanical equal in the bot lane.

Conclusion

Decorated AD Carry Teddy is getting another shot with DRX, who themselves are making a number of curious roster decisions ahead of the 2024 season. However, time will tell if this roster will be able to come together to deliver cohesive results.
