Riot Games CEO: "I just accepted the 2023 budget, and it's the biggest of all time"
League of Legends, and Riot Games with it, has been a monolith in the gaming and entertainment world for the better part of a decade. Riot Games CEO, Nicolo Laurent, teased at a massive 2023 for the company.
AN ELECTRIC 2022
2022 has been a massive year for Riot Games. Worlds 2022 Finals became the second-highest viewed esport event, peaking at 5.1 million concurrent viewers across all platforms. Crazily, this is not even taking in account China's viewership, League of Legends' largest base of viewership. Pop superstar Lil Nas X created the Worlds 2022 anthem, arguably the highest billing musician League has collaborated with.
With such high numbers to present to investors, Riot Games CEO Nicolo Laurent, shared some perspective on Riot's budget going into 2023. Laurent explains: "Last week, I just accepted the 2023 budget, and it's the biggest of all time. Next year will still be the biggest."

This is exciting news coming from Riot, seeing as the two-three years slate some big releases for the company. Arcane Season 2, the Riot MMO, Project L, and Project F are all content to look forward to in the coming years. Project L is Riot's own traditional fighting game, and Project F seems to be an ARPG akin to Diablo or Lost Ark set in the world of Runeterra.
MULTI-GENERATIONAL LEGACY
Riot Games have often shared the sentiment that they want League of Legends, and the world of Runeterra, to be a multi-generational phenomenon. In the same Konbini YouTube video where Laurent shares the budget of Riot Games, he mentions this same sentiment. Laurent says: "...so we can be Multi-Generational, and parents will bring their children to play the game, and if we are able to deliver that, it's GG."
Obviously, only time will tell how long Riot Games stays as one of the head honchos of global gaming. The upwards trend Riot is positioning themselves towards is surely promising. With massive launches like the MMO, and Arcane Season 2 on the horizon, Riot is certainly shooting for the stars.
