In a recent development, Riot Games has concluded its investigation into the actions of former VALORANT Game Changers players Madelyn “malibu” Campos and James “Summertime” Edwards. The investigation revealed violations of Riot's VCT Game Changers ruleset, resulting in substantial bans for both players.

Disqualification and Fallout from 2023 VALORANT Game Changers Circuit

The 2023 VALORANT Game Changers circuit witnessed the disqualification of Noot Noot, a rising team that eliminated content creator Disguised Toast’s squad. Over three months later, Riot has unveiled the consequences: malibu faces a permanent ban from all Riot-sanctioned competitions, while Summertime is banned for one year.

The official competitive ruling, released on Jan. 16, outlines the extent of the rule violations, citing issues related to cheating and player verification in the Game Changers circuit.

Please note that the aforementioned link to the official ruling is region-locked and may not be available to all viewers.

Malibu’s Past Violations and Summertime’s Involvement

Malibu’s permanent ban stems from her history of circumventing a hardware ban imposed by Riot Games Anti-Cheat. Additionally, she provided false information during the Game Changers verification process, including submitting an AI-generated profile photo. Notably, her actions were aggravated by previous hardware ban evasion.

Summertime assisted malibu in providing false information during the verification process. Both players deactivated their social media accounts following the disqualification. In a now-deleted Tweet, teammate Allison “xann” Angel commented on Riot’s ruling, emphasizing that the players weren't cheating in-game. However, other users pointed out that lying during the verification process constitutes a form of cheating.

Noot Noot’s Impact on Disguised Toast's Team

Noot Noot’s disqualification came just after they eliminated Disguised Toast’s squad, impacting the latter’s chances in the tournament. Despite the Disguised roster's commendable run in the competition, they won't be participating in Game Changers in 2024. Instead, the team is rumored to find a new home in the Asia-Pacific region.

While the players face consequences for their actions, the aftermath of Noot Noot's disqualification highlights the impact on other teams in the tournament. Disguised Toast's squad, despite a last-minute lineup, showcased impressive performance, hinting at the uncertainties and challenges in competitive gaming.
