Worlds 2018 runner-up and one of the best European ADCs, Martin “Rekkles” Larsson has been registered as a substitute for T1 for the upcoming League of Legends Worlds Championship 2024.

Rekkles back on the Worlds Stage

The last time Rekkles was on the Worlds’ stage was back in 2020, when he represented Fnatic placing 5th-8th after losing to Top Esports in the Playoffs quarterfinals.

He has since played for G2 Esports, Karmine Corp and Fnatic in an attempt to replicate the success he has had, but has failed to reach the World's stage. Rekkles also switched his roles but to no avail.

During the start of the year, he made a surprising decision to move to Korea to play under T1’s banner for the Challengers team. While the team enjoyed little success, Rekkles’ presence brought an influx of viewers to LCK CL, even setting a record for peak viewers, earlier this year.

Rekkles’ year concluded with a fourth place finish at LCK CL Summer 2024, an unsatisfactory finish for someone with his credentials.

T1 faces Worlds 2024 with Rekkles backing them up

T1 themselves have been struggling recently and only barely clinched the Worlds 2024 spot. They were eliminated by Hanwha Life Esports in the Summer Playoffs, lost to Dplus KIA in the LCK Regional Finals 2024 and only grabbed the last spot by taking down KT Rolster.

T1 also did not announce Rekkles as a sub, instead analyst Molecule noticed it on the Pickems team page.

The move definitely draws a lot of eyes to itself, bringing in the Rekkles fans to support T1 in their attempt to take on the Worlds 2024 challenge.
