The Shield Maiden receives the rework hammer once more.

Blizzard has announced changes to come to support hero Brigitte in the upcoming Season 4. This same upcoming season will also see the fresh introduction of new support hero Lifeweaver. Brigitte will see changes come to her ultimate ability, Rally, on April 11th, when the new season launches.

Brigitte Revealed Changes

Rally

  • Gains 100 restorable armor health pool.
  • No longer builds temporary health.
  • Bonus movement speed reduced from 30% to 15%
  • Size and Health of Barrier Shield increased.
  • Shield Bash impacts multiple enemies and stuns them.

Unbalanced Shield Maiden

The nature of Brigitte’s kit has always been a massive point of contention. On release, she was unequivocally ‘broken,’ as a support hero that was able to frontline as well, with a damage output that was far too powerful. However, nerds after nerfs came to Brigitte until the hero fell into the abyss for a good while. In recent times, however, Overwatch 2’s rework of the hero has seen her skyrocket back to success.

According to Overbuff, despite only a 1.64% pickrate, she has the second highest winrate in the game at 54.68%. Moreover, she boasts one of the highest objective times outside of Tanks, with an average of 1.25 minutes on the point across a 10-minute match. Only Lucio, with his massive mobility barely outstrips her. Despite not being as flexible as other supports, in situations where she shines, she really shines.

For years, the stun and disruption from Shield Bash was one of the hardest things to contend with against a Brigitte. Overwatch 2’s rework of the Shield Maiden took that away. However, this latest rework will reintroduce the stun, but locks it behind Rally. This allows her a greater power spike from her ultimate, while still maintaining her standard strength.

Tweaks to her Kit

This latest set of reworks will see Brigitte gain a ‘fixed amount of recoverable armor’ when activating Rally. Moreover, her Barrier Shield’s size has been increased drastically, allowing her to more effectively frontline. Finally, as previously mentioned, her stun from Shield Bash has returned, allowing her to play make with Rally. It will be interesting to see how this latest sets of reworks impact Overwatch 2 as a whole.
