Rammus appears ready to become the latest in a long list of League of Legends champions to be reworked. Though his kit won’t be entirely overhauled, expect Rammus to look, and feel, quite different after his rework goes live with Patch 25.12 on June 11th.

Let’s take a look at some of the biggest changes coming Rammus’ way with his coming update.

Rolling Rammus Gets a Rework

According to Riot Games, the overall goal of Rammus’ rework is to allow the champion to become a viable tank option into magic damage as well, instead of him being solely an AD-counter, while simultaneously increasing some of the “satisfaction and punchiness” of his abilities.

So, without further ado, what does the actual rework consist of?

Base Stats and Passive Overhaul

To kick things off, Rammus will be receiving substantial boosts to his base AD and attack speed, while his armor takes a hit instead. This is expected to make each of Rammus’ auto attacks hit considerably harder than before.

Moreover, Rammus’ [P] Spike Shell will no longer make the champion deal magic damage on hit, but instead increase his AD based on his armor and magic resistance.

  • Base stats changes:
    • Attack Damage:  55 +2.75  >>>  65 +3.0
    • Armor:  40 +5.5  >>>  35 +4.5
    • Base Attack Speed:  0.656 >>> 0.700
  • [P] Spike Shell: Gain (15% total resists) AD

Ability Touch-Up

With the goals mentioned above in mind, the damage dealt by Rammus while [W] Defensive Ball Curl will now also scale off of magic resistance, instead of purely with armor.

Meanwhile, [Q] Powerball and [R] Soaring Slam will receive damage bumps which should make Rammus more of a threat to the enemy backline moving forward.

  • [Q] Powerball base damage increased:  80-200 >>> 80-240
  • [R] Soaring Slam base impact damage increased:  100 / 175 / 250  >>>  150 / 250 / 350

A Tank at All Times

With his coming rework, Rammus will cease to be the kind of pick one immediately defaults to when the enemy drafts a full AD comp. With his armor scaling and base values reduced, and new magic resistance scalings being introduced into his kit, Rammus should prove to a be a reliable tank to pick irrespective of what the enemy champions look like.

Essentially, Rammus will no longer be forced into building full armor to maximize his kit. This should open up a whole array of possible builds and strategies for the champion moving forward, which will no doubt be interesting to explore once the Rammus changes go live on Patch 25.12.

If you'd like to have a look at the entire list of changes and ability tweaks coming to Rammus with the rework, you can do so here. Remember that this is only a preview, and the numbers may very well change before the new-look Rammus officially arrives to League of Legends.
