Mikyx is reportedly looking to complete a headline transfer back to G2 eSport's bot lane, with former teammate, Hans Sama, looking to join him.

Now that the 2022 season is close to finishing, roster moves are beginning to to take shape. Excel eSports will reportedly lose highly decorated support player Mikyx. After a heartbreaking loss to Fnatic, being reverse swept, many were expecting potential roster changes. Many weren't expecting this move however, after a long, drawn out contract negotiation it seemed as if Mikyx returning to his former home would never happen.

What happened at G2?

Due to recent changes in the spring split champions' hierarchy, the move may be back on the cards. Mikyx, under the G2 banner, had an illustrious career. With 2 years of dominance domestically and an MSI title many were labelling him as the best in the west. As 2021 came around, that magic began to fade, replacing Perkz with major signing Rekkles was just the beginning. Mikyx struggled to find consistency with his new lane partner and soon enough they failed to even qualify for Worlds in 2021.

Mikyx's 2022 season

G2 moved on in the next season, bringing new, young talent with a bot lane duo of Flakked and Targamas. This left Mikyx without a spot until he was bought by Excel eSports late into the 2022 spring split. This was apparently what the organization needed, as the team broke its playoff curse, reaching its first two consecutive playoffs since joining the LEC.

What will Mikyx be returning to?

Now, Mikyx is apparently ready to return to his home, to play with a familiar face: Hans Sama. The two made a name for themselves as the Misfits bot lane of 2018, and now that the two players have made themselves known on other rosters, they are ready to reunite. Going into the 2023 season G2 may have one of the best bot lanes going into the new season if these moves are complete. Alongside another major change with the loss of the 'Jungle King' Jankos, it seems G2 are in it to win it.

After a rough season, both players will be hoping to recreate the dominance that G2 once had. Potentially, this may be the renaissance of the organization.
