Ahead of the RE:L0:AD Grand Final, Ubisoft has officially unveiled the Year 10 Roadmap for Rainbow Six Siege. With sweeping updates arriving throughout the year, players are set to experience one of the most transformative chapters in the game’s decade-long history.

From long-requested operator reworks to modernized maps and new tools to aid learning, here's everything you need to know about the changes coming in Rainbow Six Siege X and Operation Daybreak.

Clash Rework Headlines Operation Daybreak

Clash, the game’s only shield-bearing defender, is receiving a long-overdue rework in Year 10 Season 2.

For years, Clash has struggled to find a foothold in the competitive meta. Her lack of mobility and limited utility made her more of a niche pick. With Operation Daybreak, Ubisoft aims to change that by giving her new tools, better movement, and a more interactive shield.

Key Changes to Clash in Operation Daybreak:

  • Deployable CCE Shield: Clash can now place her CCE Shield on the ground like a deployable gadget. While deployed, it can still zap and slow attackers but no longer causes damage due to neutralized electricity effects.
  • Sprint and Crouch While Shielded: She can now sprint and crouch with the shield equipped. However, the shield will only partially protect her while sprinting, leaving some body parts exposed.
  • Dash Through Barricades: Similar to other shield operators, Clash can now bash through barricades, increasing her aggressive potential.
  • Free Look Functionality: Ubisoft has added Free Look to the CCE Shield, enhancing her field of vision while it is active.
  • Destructible Shield: Once deployed, Clash's shield becomes destructible. Attackers can use grenades or explosive projectiles to remove it.

Sledge's Hammer Gets a Buff - Literally

Alongside Clash’s overhaul, Sledge receives a small but impactful change in Rainbow Six Siege X. For the first time, Sledge can now knock down shield users with his hammer.

While Zofia and Capitão already offer viable counters to shield-wielding defenders, this change gives Sledge an up-close-and-personal tool to deal with Clash and other shield operators like Blitz, Montagne, and Blackbeard.

Though it may seem minor on paper, this tweak was one of the most well-received surprises during the roadmap reveal.

The Mini Map Arrives But With a Catch

After years of debate and speculation, Rainbow Six Siege is finally getting a mini-map, but don’t expect to see it in Ranked matches just yet.

The mini-map will debut in Year 10 Season 4 and will only be available in the training playlist. Its primary purpose is to help new players better navigate the game’s complex multi-level maps.

Ubisoft previewed the feature with a teaser clip set on Clubhouse’s second floor, but the demonstration left some questions unanswered. Notably, it’s unclear how the mini map will function across different floors or whether it could evolve into a standard feature in future updates.

The only other confirmed mode to include the mini-map is the upcoming 6v6 Dual Front, hinting that Ubisoft may be testing its viability in casual or experimental environments before a broader rollout.

Map Modernization

Operation Daybreak will launch with five fully modernized maps:

  • Bank
  • Border
  • Chalet
  • Clubhouse
  • Kafe Dostoyevsky

Each of these maps will feature enhanced visuals and new interactive elements like destructible gas pipes, fire extinguishers, and metal detectors.

Building on this momentum, Year 10 Season 3 will add three more updated maps:

  • Consulate
  • Lair
  • Nighthaven Labs

These remakes aim to modernize layouts and visuals while improving competitive balance and player navigation. Ubisoft has clearly committed to maintaining map freshness, a move that should keep Siege feeling current even a decade into its life cycle.

Electricity Goes Neutral

Operation Daybreak introduces significant operator balance updates, starting with a bold systemic change: electricity will now be neutral.

That means gadgets like Clash’s CCE Shield, Bandit batteries, and other electric utilities will no longer deal damage, regardless of who deploys them. Instead, electricity will serve more as a utility disruptor and area denial tool rather than a lethal deterrent.

Test Server Opens May 20th

PC players can try all the new changes, including Clash’s rework and the revamped maps, when the Test Server opens on May 20th. Operation Daybreak and Rainbow Six Siege X will officially launch on June 10th, 2025.

Ubisoft encourages players to report any bugs or malfunctions during testing on the R6Fix site.

Final Thoughts: A New Era for Siege Begins

From foundational operator reworks to long-awaited features like the mini-map and map modernizations, Rainbow Six Siege X and Operation Daybreak signal the beginning of a new era for the game. Ubisoft is doubling down on modernization without abandoning the game’s strategic DNA.

Whether you’re a veteran returning for the changes or a newcomer looking to learn the ropes, there’s never been a better time to enter Siege.
