Against all odds, Movistar KOI showed up to their LEC Spring Grand Finals match against G2 Esports and utterly dominated their rivals. With the LEC trophy in their hands, as well as a ticket to MSI 2025 as Europe's first seed, the team's win was particularly meaningful for star Mid Laner Joseph "Jojopyun" Pyun.

After becoming the first player to make the transition from LCS to LEC to start the year, Jojopyun has now also become the first and only North American player in history to lift an LEC trophy.

Movistar KOI Persevere

Movistar KOI came into the Grand Finals after going through a grueling run at the 2025 LEC Spring Playoffs. Not only did the Spanish side have to go through two five-game-series against their neighboring rivals of Karmine Corp, but they had also been on the receiving end of a clean sweep by G2 Esports less than two weeks before having to take them on again in the finals.

Despite the odds looking well and truly stacked against them, Movistar KOI's gameplan for the series was full of energy, curveballs, and confidence. Though G2 may have once ruled the LEC with an iron fist, they found little in the way of answers against MKOI in the finals. Thrashed and abashed, the team's lack of form would see G2 drop two consecutive LEC titles for the first time since 2021, officially putting an end to their European reign of terror.

For MKOI, the 3-1 Grand Finals victory saw the organization lift an LEC trophy for the first time since 2023 in what capped off a remarkable journey marked by hard work, dedication, and growth.

Jojo's Historic Journey

The tale of Jojo's voyage in professional League of Legends is nothing short of remarkable. After starting his LCS career back in 2022, it only took Jojo's second tournament to see the Canadian prodigy lift his first Tier-1 trophy, becoming the youngest LCS champion of all time at the age of 17.

Now, three years later, history repeats itself for the star Mid Laner. Having been the first LCS-grown player to make the jump over to the LEC for the start of the 2025 season, it took Jojo just two tournaments once more to come away with an LEC trophy. With a knack for making League of Legends history, Jojopyun is now the only North American player to become champion of both the LCS and the LEC; all perfectly in accordance with Jojo's plan.

In a career that has gone on for little more than three years, Jojopyun already holds an impressive list of accolades that most professional players could only dream of:

  • LEC Champion (2025 Spring)
  • LCS Champion (2022 Spring)
  • LEC 2nd All-Pro Team (2025 Spring)
  • LCS MVP (2023 Summer)
  • x2 LCS 1st All-Pro Team (2022 Summer, 2023 Summer)
  • x2 LCS 2nd All-Pro Team (2024 Spring, 2024 Summer)
  • LCS Rookie of the Year (2022)

With Jojopyun's latest triumph behind him, the Canadian star will now have the chance to carry on making history when he takes on some of the best teams in the world in front of his home crowd at MSI 2025.
