It appears G2 Esports have already found their new support for the 2025 LEC season in, with Labros "Labrov" Papoutsakis set to join the historic organization.

After failing to qualify for the Quarterfinals at Worlds 2024 following their defeat at the hands of BLG, G2 are swiftly looking for answers.

The report, which comes from Sheep Esports' Alejandro "Anonimotum" Gomis, indicates that G2 have been quick to find a replacement for long time veteran Mihael "Mikyx" Mehle.

Labrov on the rise

Labrov's debut in the LEC came all the way back in 2020, after joining Team Vitality at the beginning of the year. It did not take long for the Greek support player to start turning heads, as he ran away with the LEC Rookie of the Split award in that same year.

Following a great initial run in the league, however, Labrov's progress seemed to stagnate after Team Vitality's set of unimpressive runs in the LEC.

Looking for greener pasture, Labrov joined Team BDS for the 2023 season. Now, in 2024, Labrov has established himself as one of the best in his role after partnering up with Sang-hoon "Ice" Yoon to form one of the most fearsome bot lanes in Europe.

While Labrov may currently find himself at the peak of his career, there is no doubt he will have immense shoes to fill with Mikyx' exit from G2.

G2 reach for the stars

G2 came into Worlds 2024 as the greatest Western hope to stand up to the Eastern overlords of League of Legends. In the end, though, following a rough set of draws and several hard-fought battles, G2 fell just short of reaching the Knockout Stage.

Despite G2 winning every single LEC trophy throughout 2024, it is clear the team has their sights set on the international stage.

The decision to move on from the former MSI Champion and LEC MVP of Mikyx is, as incredible as it may sound, one that is meant to push G2 to greater heights.

While Mikyx may have been struggling to maintain his form in recent times, the Slovenian support will still be a coveted target in the upcoming off season, if not solely for his experience and potential leadership capabilities.
