As if it could have ever gone any other way, G2 Esports have locked their spot at MSI 2025. After taking down Movistar KOI in the Upper Bracket Finals of the LEC Spring Playoffs, the European powerhouse became the very first team to secure their place at the next step of international competition.

G2 Step Up in Time

Despite finishing the Regular Season in fourth place after struggling with consistency and synergy issues, the G2 squad decided to kick into gear for the start of the Playoffs. After taking down their long-standing rivals of Fnatic in the opening match, Movistar KOI stood in the way of G2 and yet another international appearance.

Eager to return to MSI, G2 kicked it up a notch when the pressure turned to its highest. Though MKOI came into the match high on the momentum of their win against the reigning LEC Champions of Karmine Corp, G2 managed to outmaneuver the Spanish team at just about every turn.

In the deciding game of the series, G2 put matters into the hands of Hans Sama's Draven and Labrov's Blitzcrank. The team's bot lane simply ran away with the early game from there, creating an insurmountable mountain for MKOI to climb.

With the 3-1 victory, G2 earned themselves a ticket straight to the Grand Finals of the LEC Spring Split, where an unknown challenger awaits.

Now, the frantic race across the Lower Bracket of the Playoffs begins as the five remaining teams compete for the last LEC ticket to MSI, and a chance to battle G2 for the title.

On to MSI

With the win, G2 Esports became the very first team on the global scene to secure a spot at MSI 2025. The team that won it all in 2019 will return to the MSI stage once more hungry to prove they have got what it takes to compete with some of the best League of Legends teams in the world.

With the LEC Grand Finals still looming, the match will decide what G2's path at MSI will look like. A win there would see the team qualify straight to the Bracket Stage of MSI. A second place finish at the LEC Spring Playoffs, however, would mean G2 will have to start their MSI journey from the Play-In Stage, where they would have to play against the #2 seeds from other Major regions first.

The Grand Finals of the LEC Spring Split kick off on Sunday, June 8th. Will G2 manage to cap off their remarkable surge with yet another LEC trophy, or is there a squad that can rise to the challenge?
