Coming on 9 years since it’s initial launch, the Overwatch roster has continued to expand, with an ever-growing cast of memorable heroes. While some treasure the original roster, the newer members have found homes in the hearts of others. In Season 9, we will get our first taste of Overwatch 2’s newest Damage Hero - Venture. She will be the first Damage Hero to launch since Sojourn all the way back at the launch of Overwatch 2. Venture will also be the 40th Hero added to the roster and the 18th Damage Hero.

When will Venture Release in Overwatch 2?

Venture is currently set to release in Season 10. Season 8, the current season, will end on the 20th of February 2024. Season 9 will take off from there and will reportedly include a trial period for Venture, similar to Mauga’s prior to his own official launch.

What are Venture’s Abilities in Overwatch 2?

Very little concrete information is currently available on Venture. As we know she will be a Damage Hero, the majority of her kit’s focus will be centered on dealing out massive amounts of either sustained or burst damage. Footage on her was originally unveiled at BlizzCon 2023 and was revealed to be heavily inspired by miners and mining gear.

Her Primary Fire will be an AOE Projectile. It has the ability to travel a set distance and explodes on contact. This sounds vaguely in the park of another hero like Junkrat and suggests an AOE area denial specialist type of Damage Hero.

Venture’s quick escape/engage ability is a Burrow ability that allows her to dive into the ground. While ‘burrowed’, she cannot be damaged and can move in any direction. The ability has a time limit, and Venture can cancel the ability before the duration runs out. In either case, Venture will re-emerge from the ground in a vertical burst of movement. A brief AOE damage effect will occur in the area Venture emerges before she bursts back out.

Venture will also reportedly receive a forward dash. Enemies in the path of the dash will be damaged, similar to Genji. She will also receive some Shield HP at activation of the dash, decaying over a few seconds.
