After a disappointing 2023 season, Dplus KIA LoL has started making moves for the upcoming 2024 season. The announcement follows the Worlds 2023 results which concluded over the weekend.

Dplus KIA League of Legend's 2023 season:

The 2022 off-season saw two big names joining the ranks of Damwon Gaming. The first is the 2022 Worlds winning ADC Kim “Deft” Hyuk-kyu along with Nongshim RedForce’s top laner Kim “Canna” Chang-dong. The organization then rebranded to Dplus KIA.

Coming into the LCK Spring 2023, Dplus KIA stayed relevant and stayed amongst the top four squads finishing the split with a 12-6 record. Hanwha Life Esports eliminated them in the first round of LCK Spring Playoffs.

The team’s results only worsened for the LCK Summer 2023 split, still placing fourth but with an 11-7 record. Come LCK Summer 2023 playoffs, they fell to T1. In the LCK Regional Finals 2023, Dplus KIA defeated DRX and Hanwha Life to qualify for the Worlds 2023.

At the Worlds 2023, Dplus KIA and Deft took the center stage, with the latter getting featured in the anthem. Unfortunately, that was the only center stage they could take. In the Worlds 2023 Swiss Stage, KT Rolster defeated Dplus KIA to eliminate them from the competition. The unfortunate results definitely call for big changes. The roster was created to win championships but they couldn’t scratch the top layers of competition.

Making steps towards the future:

Dplus KIA started their changes with the departure of their coaching staff. After only a single year with the roster, the coaches failed to achieve significant results leading to their departure.

The next set of tweets announced the departure of Kim “Canyon” Gun-boo, Canna and Deft. The departure stems from players' decision to not renew the contracts with the organization.

Additionally, Yun “Bible” Seol has transitioned to streamer for the organization.

The final announcement commemorates the return of Lee “Zefa” Jae-min as the Head Coach for the roster. Zefa spent 2023 away from League and was previously part of Worlds 2020 winning Damwon KIA roster and T1, and is a well-known coaching talent in the LCK.

For now the Dplus KIA roster for LCK 2024 is as follows:

  • Top Lane: ?
  • Jungler: ?
  • Mid Lane: Heo “ShowMaker” Su
  • AD Carry: ?
  • Support: Kim “Kellin” Hyeong-gyu
  • Head Coach: Lee “Zefa” Jae-min
