BBL Esports' Valorant division had a somewhat turbulent 2023 season. It was certain that they would be looking to make necessary changes and rebuild the roster. The rebuild for the BBL Valorant squad started yesterday, 21st September, with SouhCNi. Today, BBL Esports announced the departure of Mehmet "Turko" Özen from the roster.

Turko’s Valorant journey:

Turko started his Valorant journey in 2020. He formed a F/A team alongside Mavera, XiSTOU, pAura and toronto. The F/A squad won multiple Tier 2 events. Oxygen Esports picked the F/A squad. With Oxygen Esports, Turko placed third in the First Strike Turkey in 2020 and again in the VCT 2021: Masters Turkey.

The newly created SuperMassive Blaze recuited Turko for their Valorant program. In the final EMEA challengers of 2021, SMB had an amazing run and placed second at the event, securing an International event.

Unfortunately, Acend eliminated them from the Group Stage, concluding their run. He later stepped down from SMB to join Dsyre.

BBL Esports Turko:

BBL Esports acquired Turko from Dsyre in February 2022. Although the team was filled with talented Turkish players, BBL struggled to qualify for the VCT EMEA Challengers Playoffs. The struggles continued in the VCT EMEA 2023 partnership era. They had some amazing performances but the results did not reflect the efforts of the team.

With BBL struggling, they needed changes. The team announced the departure of SouhcNi yesterday. They announced Turko’s departure today. Turko expressed his gratitude for the BBL fans and the organization.

As the organization and Turko have mutually decided to terminate the contract, Turko will be an Unrestricted F/A. He has ample experience playing multiple roles and will be an asset on his next team.
