At the VCT Pacific Week 2, ZETA Division face RRQ. In a best of three series, ZETA defeated RRQ and registered their first win at VCT Pacific. The series started rough for ZETA division but the team brought it back to secure the game. Strafe had an opportunity to talk with ZETA’s IGL Ushida “LAZ” Koji. In an exclusive 1-on-1 interview, ZETA LAZ talks about the team's performance, issues, role changes and more.

Q. Congratulations on your Victory. How do you feel about your win?

ZETA LAZ: “This was our first win on the new team structure so I am very happy about it”

Q. The game went well, But you guys were struggling. Can you elaborate on what was going wrong?

ZETA LAZ: “ So we as a team, We were not prepared at first. The enemy had Astra which we weren’t prepared for. And then we had couple of teamwork error here and there and what hurt us the most is losing the skirmishes”

Q. VCT LOCK//IN did not go as intended, What were the issues at the LOCK//IN during Leviatan?

ZETA LAZ: “When I go back all the way to LOCK//IN, my memory isn’t that sure. But the worst thing for us, is that we didn’t have a definite IGL and the team had potential but it was wasted.

Q. You are back as IGL of the team, How are you adjusting to the IGL role along with the in-game role change?

ZETA LAZ: “So basically I just do the best I could. I knew my performance would go down If I pick up IGL and initiator. But In the round I talk on and then decide how to fight and decide how to lead the team to victory.”

Q. Do you think the role changes are affecting the team’s performance?

ZETA LAZ: “After LOCK//IN, moving from Tokyo to Korea it was hard. Like last week we only got to play each map for two days. But we solved the problems we had like mid game calls and how to attack but in this game we solved the problems we had and we showed what we are capable of.”

Q. What does ZETA have to do to continue winning?

ZETA LAZ: “So keep on thinking on how to fight as a team. The fundamentals for the team are set now. From here on out, we have to focus on the individual plays and skills and expressions so we can fight more small skirmishes. Because I think from here on out, I think if we lose small fight we don’t think we can win”

Q. Who’d you think will be the toughest team to face?

ZETA LAZ: “I think it’d be Paper Rex”

Q. Do you think the Pacific will adapt to Gekko anywhere in the near future?

ZETA LAZ: “It's possible but I am not too sure. I think it is a strong agent.”

Q. What are your goals for this season?

ZETA LAZ: “I think our goal for the season is to qualify for Master’s Tokyo”

Q. Which team would you like to face in the Finals of Tokyo?

ZETA LAZ: “I don’t have a particular team I want to face. But I want to fight all the strong teams”

Zeta Division will face Global Esports in the VCT Pacific Week 3 matchup. GES are still searching for their first dub at the league. ZETA will want to continue to ride the momentum after the victory and convert the single win into a successful season.
