March is Women’s History Month and to celebrate the occasion, Rocket League has partnered with one of their top streamers, Widow, to produce the WIRL $10K Cup. The tournament, which is one of the first of its kind, will take place in March. It’ll include some of the very best women in Rocket League, although there has been no official confirmation just yet about whether people of other genders will be competing. Fans are hoping that this announcement will mark the start of RL dedicating itself to the women involved in the game.

Widow Officially Announces WIRL $10K Cup

What we know so far - WIRL $10K Cup

Details of who will be participating in the tournament are a little scarce at the moment since the official announcement was only made last night. However, in a blog post on their official website, Rocket League did confirm the structure of how the tournament will work. Here’s everything we know so far:

Who

There will be 12 teams of 3 players each competing. Each of the 36 players must not identify as male (although there has been no statement regarding trans and non binary players). If you’re looking for high quality play, fear not. Every team will be led by a seasoned pro and have two creators filling out the rest of the roster.

What

The WIRL $10K Cup is a double elimination tournament with a, you guessed it, $10,000 prize pool. The teams will need to battle it out in games of Rumble, Snowday, Dropshot and Rumble Dropshot for a share of the prize pool.

When

There will be two full days of Rocket League action over the weekend of March 11th - 12th. The times have yet to be confirmed. But it’s looking like 2 long and extremely fast paced days of amazing RL!

Where

The official blog post confirmed that Widow, a streamer and creator for Gen.G Mobil1 Racing, will be hosting the tournament herself on her Twitch channel. The games will be streamed live so no one will have to miss out on watching their favorite players compete.
