Just days after the end of IEM Dallas, CSGO fans will again be given a chance to revel in their favorite competitive sport, as the Blast Premier Spring Finals 2023 will begin. Taking place in the USA again, the Entertainment and Sports Arena in Washington D.C. will play host to 8 teams. Each one will have to give it their all, as the winners will Qualify directly to the Blast World Finals. And walk away with a handsome $200,000 payout.

The Teams:

Eight teams have managed to qualify to the event by playing through the Blast Spring Groups and the Blast Showdowns. There is also one wild card entry. Those teams are:

  • Team Vitality (Spring Groups)
  • Faze Clan (Spring Groups)
  • G2 Esports (Spring Groups)
  • Heroic (Spring Groups)
  • Astralis (Spring Groups)
  • Cloud9 (Spring AME Showdown)
  • Imperial Esports (Spring EU Showdown)
  • Complexity Gaming (replacing NaVi)

Natus Vincere had managed to qualify for the tournament via the Spring Groups, but due to visa issues, they decided to withdraw. And their spot has been given to Complexity Gaming.

The Format:

The initial stage of the tournament will feature two GSL-style groups, each comprising four teams. In this format, teams have the opportunity to compete in a double-elimination setup, meaning they have a second chance even after suffering a defeat. All matches in the group stage will be BO3, ensuring that teams have to prove their mettle over a series of intense battles.

To advance to the playoffs, the top three teams from each group will secure their spots based on their performance. The group stage winners will earn a direct ticket to the semifinals, showcasing their dominance throughout the matches. Meanwhile, the runners-up from each group will secure a place in the quarterfinals as the high seeds, rewarded for their strong performances despite falling short of the top spot. Additionally, the third-place teams from each group will advance to the quarterfinals as the low seeds, displaying their resilience and determination.

The playoffs stage will introduce a single-elimination bracket, ramping up the pressure and making every match crucial. Teams have no room for mistakes as they battle in BO3 matches, requiring them to showcase consistent skill and strategy to secure victory. The playoffs stage will determine which team will emerge as the champion of Washington D.C.

The Schedule:

Group A will kick off the tournament, as Vitality take on Imperial in the opening match. After that, G2 will have a go at Cloud9.
