VCT Pacific Kickoff starts with a Four-hour Delay
The first day of VCT 2024 was plagued with Technical issues. The season started with a long 30-min delay at VCT Americas Kickoff 2024 Inaugural game. But the biggest trouble came with VCT Pacific Kickoff.
The inaugural game of the tournament, between T1 and BLEED, was delayed by four hours. The final game of the day, GES vs. ZETA was postponed to Day 2 due to the delay.
VCT Pacific’s official Twitter also released a statement regarding delays.
In the statement, they apologized for the inconveniences caused to the fans. They also decided to refund the tickets to the on-site fans. A big reason for issuing a statement and refund lies in the fact that the games that were supposed to start at 01:00 PM KST were delayed until 05:00 PM KST for the first game. Currently, it is 11:00 PM KST and the second game of the day is on the first map.
The APAC Head of Valorant Esports also apologized to the audience for the same.
The initial cause were 'Audio hardware issues' which escalated to other technical difficulties leading to the inaugural Pacific game finishing almost five hours later than the schedule.
Fortunately, the tech team were able to sort the issues and the action ensued. The first game concluded with T1 dominating the second map to win the series 2-0. Currently RRQ takes on Gen.G for the second game of the day.
