PRX still Dominant: VCT Masters Tokyo Playoffs Day 2 Recap

Day 2 of the Playoffs of VCT Masters Tokyo saw Fnatic take on NRG, and the two Pacific teams DRX and Paper Rex duke it out in the Arena.

Game 1: Fnatic vs NRG

Fnatic made easy work of their North American opponents, as they managed to sweep the series 2-0.

Fracture started off as a well balanced matchup between the two teams. Neither team was able to get some momentum going, and managed to tie the first half at 6-6. However, Fnatic had a much better showing on their attacking side in the second half. Not allowing NRG any room to breathe, Fnatic took 5 rounds right off the bat. NRG managed to claw back 3 rounds, but Fnatic closed out the map at 13-9.

Bind was a very one-sided affair for Fnatic. The EMEA giants started off with a 2 round win streak, and then proceeded to give away 2 rounds. But then Fnatic managed to get into the groove, and had a stellar attacking side. They won 8 rounds in a row to close out the first half at 10-2. NRG had no answers for them. They managed to take 2 more rounds in the second half. But Fnatic managed to close out the map at a staggering 13-4.

Fnatic moved on to the Upper Bracket Semi Finals, while NRG were relegated to the Lower Bracket.

Game 2: Paper Rex vs DRX

In the Revenge Matchup, DRX could not manage the upset, as Paper Rex took the series 2-0.

Fracture remains

Starting off on Split, PRX had a very good first half. Not giving DRX any breathing room, PRX took the first half in a commanding 9-3 fashion. However, DRX did fight back in the second half. They showed a decent attacking side, and brought themselves up to 10-11. But PRX managed to get the next two rounds, which won them the map at 13-10.

Both teams were inseparable in the first half of Bind. but although they were trading rounds with each other, it was PRX again who came out on top with a 8-4 scoreline on their defense. However, DRX again refused to go down without a fight. The Pacific champions managed to pull back 6 rounds in the second half. But this wasn’t enough, as PRX managed to pull off a 3 round win streak, and took the map at 13-10 once again.

Paper Rex moved on to the Upper Bracket Semi Finals of VCT Masters Tokyo, where they will face off against Fnatic.

While DRX have been relegated to the Lower Bracket, where they will face NRG.
