Evil Geniuses continued their Cinderella run in the Playoffs, while Fnatic gave PRX a harsh dose of reality. All this on the 4th day of VCT Masters Tokyo.

Game 1: Team Liquid vs Evil Geniuses

The Geniuses from North America had little trouble in beating the EMEA Champions. As they took the series 2-0 in quite the dominant fashion.

Split remains

Starting off on Fracture, which is the strongest map for EG, the North American outfit had a very dominant match. They managed to pull off a near perfect first half. Only giving up a single round on their attack, EG took the first half at 11-1. Liquid only managed to grab the pistol round in the second half, as EG quickly shut them down, and won the two rounds required to secure the map at an astounding 13-2.

Liquid fared a bit better on Haven. On their attack, they managed to put up quite a fight. Although the first half did not go in their favor, Liquid ended the half at 5-7. However, EG were just too much to handle, as they managed to pull of a 4 round win streak in the second half to get to Map Point. Liquid could only deny them one more round, before the Geniuses secured the map 13-9.

Team Liquid have been relegated to the Lower Bracket Quarterfinals, where they will face the other remaining Americas team NRG. While Evil Geniuses moved ahead to the Upper Bracket Finals of VCT Masters Tokyo.

Game 2: Paper Rex vs Fnatic

Paper Rex were given a harsh reminder of the skill gap between them and their opponents, as Fnatic had a comfortable 2-0 victory in the matchup.

FNC ban Pearl

PRX ban Haven

FNC pick Lotus

PRX pick Bind

FNC ban Fracture

PRX ban Ascent

Split remains

It was a bloodbath on Lotus, as Fnatic had a perfect start that most teams dream of. Boasting a defensive masterclass, Boaster and his lackeys did not allow PRX to take a single round. Fnatic ended the first half in a dominant 12-0. However, PRX did fight back in the second half. They got the ball rolling, and won 5 rounds right off the bat. But Fnatic managed to get themselves together, and on round 18, took the map victory at 13-5.

Moving on to Pearl, PRX had a relatively better time here. Fnatic again had a stellar start, this time on the attack. The EMEA side only let slip 3 rounds from their grasps, as they took the first half 9-3. They kept this momentum going in the second half, as they took 3 rounds right off the bat to get to Map Point. The Pacific Champions got their rhythm going, as they managed to win 4 rounds back-to-back. But Fnatic ended it by taking round 20 and winning the map 13-7.

Paper Rex have been relegated to the Lower Bracket Quarterfinals where they will face EDward Gaming. While Fnatic advanced to the Upper Bracket Finals of VCT Masters Tokyo, where they will face off against Evil Geniuses.
