EDG eliminate LOUD: VCT Masters Tokyo Playoffs Day 3 Recap

Day 3 of the Playoffs of VCT Masters Tokyo gave us another exciting matchday, as LOUD and NRG fought for survival in the lower bracket against EDward Gaming and DRX respectively.

Game 1: EDward Gaming vs LOUD

EDG does not stop surpassing everyone’s expectations, as they manage to take down the Champion of the Americas League in LOUD in a 2-0 sweep.

As things kicked off on Lotus, EDG had a very strong start. Starting off on the attack, they managed to get an early lead, and end the first half at 8-4. They carried this momentum forward into the second half. LOUD had no answers for the Chinese defense, and only managed to claw back 2 more rounds, before conceding the map 13-6 to EDG.

LOUD had a much better start on Fracture. Even though EDG took the first two rounds of the first half, LOUD bounced back and managed to end the first half at 7-5. However, this lead was not enough to clinch the map for the South American outfit. EDG showed off a stellar attacking side in the second half. Managing to pull off two 4 round win streaks, separated by a single round from LOUD, EDG took the map 13-10.

LOUD have been eliminated from VCT Masters Tokyo, while EDward Gaming move on to the Lower Bracket Quarterfinals.

Game 2: DRX vs NRG

NRG managed to stay alive in the competition, as they eliminated DRX in a 2-0 sweep in their series.

Starting off on Pearl, DRX had a very strong defense in the first half. Only allowing NRG to take 4 rounds in between, the Pacific powerhouse ended the first half at 8-4. However, NRG showed off a stellar defense of their own. The North Americans managed to win 1 round more than DRX did on their defense, and made the comeback possible to win the map 13-11.

NRG had a much better time on their pick of Haven. They had a strong start in the first half, not allowing DRX to build any momentum. The first half ended 8-4 in favor of NRG. DRX looked completely out of their depth in the second half. NRG managed to take 4 rounds right off the bat to get to Map Point. DRX could only claw back 1 round, before NRG took the map 13-5 in a very dominant fashion.

DRX have been eliminated from VCT Masters Tokyo, while NRG move on to the Lower Bracket Quarterfinals.
